*beams* I'm so psyched! I was going to form one but I didn't have enough time at my disposal. I'm in it of course. I have so much freaking knowledge and resources, I'm going to be really really involved. It's so cool! I was like the 36th signature on the signup sheet, and that's just today really! It's in a really conservative logging town, so we could have substantial trouble with the parents (several of them pulled their kids out of the play The Laramie Project, simply because they heard it dealt with homosexuality) but the High School is quite liberal (over half anyway) and there is of course a substantial bi population. Wheee! mrgreen

The high i'm going to be attending next year already has a GSA, though I can't say I know much about it yet.

That's so great! My school doesn't have a G.S.A. We have a Queer Group, which is more of a support group than an activism group, because at my school everyone is really, really accepting and flamboyantly homosexual. It's nice.

crying You people are so lucky, I'm in a South Carolina public school! They'd rather start a lynching mob than a GSA! But you'd better bet your butt that I'd be the first to sign up. Meet new people, help new people, f**k new people! ::sigh:: IT's really hard to find someone brave enough to fight off a homophobic mob down here. cry

Maybe they'd be braver if there was more than one person starting it? You could get a whole bunch of people together to start one.

It would be great idea, if there were more than two guys, (three graduated last year), and the 5 girls I sit next to at lunch, who wouldn't mind being out. I have tried for it, but of all the people to sign up, we had a wapping total of eight people(including my boyfriend, who managed to vote twice!) It was sadly but inevitably shot down. crying

You guys have to vote to start stuff? s**t. That must suck. At my middle school a bunch of my friends and I started a GSA. We only had four members, but then it grew and by the end of the year we had about twelve. Eight isn't so bad for a GSA. Most high schools only have like, 15 that come regularly.

yeah, except that our school says that we aren't allowed to have a club of any less than 15 people, despite the fact that the drama club only has 12...I'm sensing something wrong, unless of course I forgot that 15 comes before 12.

That pisses me off. You should go to the principal or whoever is in charge of these things and point that out. Also, in most states public schools are required to let their students start Gay Straight Alliances. Find out if that's true for South Carolina.
