I noticed one of my other friends that I met in the game did this and I think it's a great idea.
When you go into ZOMG, update your status to tell us what server you're on. You can also mention what area you'll be working in so we can try to find you.
If you view your friends list the friend's status shows up next to their name so you can see more than just the most recent 3.
Pretty cool, huh?

Also the PDA display has changed and so has the chat. The PDA display has buttons that moved to the top. They are Active Quests, Completed Quests, Local Map, and World Map. I use the Local map still more than anything, but that's what's new with that.
The chat is a bit different and I didn't realize it until someone told me. Select the yellow button (Talk): your text is white and only the people on the same screen will see your text. Select the red button (Shout): your text is pink and will go out to all players, in your area, chat windows (this is no longer the default so this is good to know). Select the blue button (Crew): this is the same as before, text is blue and only your crew can read it. Select the orange button (Clan): your text is orange, and I suppose everyone here should be able to see it, but I wasn't able to verify last night.
If you know you're on the same server as another player, you can type /w username text...chat...text...chat and they will see it in purple. If you happen to be on the same screen as the other player and you're able to see their avatar, you can click on them, and select whisper from the drop down arrow. But using the above format is useful when you can't see them or they are somewhere else.

Theoretically the orange chat should work with clan members outside of the game too as long as they're logged into GIM.

I have yet to see it work in the game, but it did work with me and LostPhrack the other day. I was in the game and he wasn't but we were still chatting. On my screen it looked like he was whispering to me, and I whispered back to him. But maybe that is because of the whisper and not really the clan chat... hmm...

The new features are kind of cool but aren't too useful to me because my Friends list is basically empty and I'm a loaner in zOMG.

Do you want to be my friend?
I like to team up with people in zomg and help get through the quests. Many of them are virtually impossible if you're by yourself. I haven't been playing much but after my final on Monday I'm pretty much free. I will also get a few extra days off for the holidays, and since I have no family here, I won't be busy at all.

I'm still way too low of a CL to be teaming up with anyone. I don't want to be the weak link and slow anyone down. razz Thanks for the offer though.

Slow me down?? BAHAHAHAHAHAH twisted
If I join up with people at the lower levels it's just for fun. You can't slow me down if I'm not trying to achieve anything. The only down side is, if I can't lower my self far enough, being teamed up with me can really hurt your drops. So I do my best to match the level of the area, while still being able to stay alive and do some damage.

My wife and I both crash around zOMG beating up on critters so eventually we'll both be up in levels.

While doing all the new tutorials and quizzes I learned something totally new.
When you are in the null, you can talk to the lady in there, and choose Suppress my CL or something like that. Then you get a selector that prevents your rings from working at full CL capacity. So you can Adjust your CL for any area you go in with out actually having to change rings!

Yeah, oOo_Nightowl_oOo, listen to ducky. She doesn't mind teaming up with anyone. She teams up with me and I'm still really weak. sweatdrop
I use the little friends buttons too. If I want to play with someone, I look to see if anyone I know is already on a server. If they are, I hop on that server. Hmm, I forgot to look to see if it shows clan members too.

I enjoy playing. That's why I started up my tutuducky account again. It's more fun with friends instead of just random people.

I don't think the servers show if other clan members are online, but at least the crew chat works now, and that will ping anyone who's playing whatever server. Has helped me out more than once xd

mizducky It's more fun with friends instead of just random people. Yeah, but sometimes those random people become your friends too so it's great both ways. biggrin
