Official Tasks!

Official Tasks
1) Create a login password system using php and mySQL, the first person to do this, and get it working with requirements I'll specify in a moment, will get 5000g.
It must encrypt the passwords
It must be updatable (aka not permanent)
The passwords must be unique.
It must have three fields. ID, Username, Passwords.
When displaying, passwords must be shown as asterisks or something similar.
2) Design the front page.
Taking into account we want to save the environment, the page, must be as environmentally friendly as possible, and low bandwidth. This means images must be relatively low resolution.
This is your chance to actually influence what the page looks like.
We're also, doing a nordic theme, most likely to be fenrir, but you can come off any angle. CSS is STRONGLY encouraged. I can help with it, or at least partially convert to CSS.
Just take up the task and do it. If you need anything, pm me.

Once the login has been completed, it'll be time to complete a registration module. Which means inputting more data, so that members can register via the web, and hence in a sense be able to log in.
Information that will be required.
A unique email address
First Name (or the name they'd prefer to be called) The second name is excluded for security reasons
Password: Which can contain any character on the keyboard.
Username: As above
Security question: A question or two that they can ask themselves (which would appear if they click a forgot password)
Security answer: They can ask an infinite amount of questions, but they have to have the same amount of answers.
If you can, put in some kind of captcha.
These are the only essential pieces of data we would need.

I know how to do task #1 and 2. Give me a week to do a mock ups of for the front page though but I can quickly do the login buttons. Those are actually very easy. xD
However, I need to know is it just going be forums? Are we going have a storyline what would it be? Well, basicly what is going be on the site for sure so I can make a starter front page basicly. 3nodding

I haven't quite decided yet, but a friend of mine, is currently working on some sort of story line...click on guilds, and search for SleepDark, the story line is basically on the front page.
I have sort of put together my mediocre design up.
Things that are going to be on the site...hmm, that's something up for debate but...

Since we don't have much information, as few people have put in any feed back, it will be forums for now.
The thing with the login, is that we need it to confer with a database, or a list of usernames and passwords. So it takes the input from the user, and checks it against the database, denying access if it's wrong.
Number 3, I can work on, but I need really, someone to do the Login, so I can get my head around the basic principles of PHP.

I was going use Java for the Login. I could probably learn PHP pretty quickly (as I've learned other computer languages); however, I'm going have to push this back a few days. I just came down with a cold. emo

No worries.
I keep having a go, but for some reason, I can't seem to make the mySQL, and the login interact with each other... gonk
I'm not that familiar with languages.

User java if you want, as long as it isn't jscript.
After all, it has to store data so people can log in, without re-registering every time.

Okay. I'll have the coding and some mock ups done by Monday.
Also, since it's going be Norse and all do you think brown, golds and some greens would be a good color sheme?

The design is purely up to you. If you think that browns, golds and greens would look good, feel free.
Ah, and the logo is going to be a circle with a three pointed star.

Hang on my course finishes for the year on Friday... I'm pretty free until February after that... I'll help with some stuff once I get my final tests and assignments in.
