What would be the best Piccolo for a starting Piccolo player?

I know what brand is best [I think Gemeinhardt makes good Flutes,Piccolos ] .... But I want to know what material is best...

I'm not in Marching Band this will be for Wind E[ I might be in 8th grade band].

What would be best? Composite[Silver head joint and keys with a wood body], Silver [All silver] or Wood[Wood head joint and body silver keys]?

Thanks.

All wood. Wood is the best. It makes the best sound. But don't march with it. But, it's also extremely expensive.

In order to get any kind of GOOD piccolo, you need to be willing to spend at least $1000.

Gemeinhardts are good, but not the best out there. Japanese flutes are among the best, and for piccolos...Well, I have forgotten the brand name. I'd have to ask people who can actually afford these things.

However, if you are just starting, and don't want to spend a whole lot, get a Gemeinhardt with a synthetic plastic-like body. They're black, and they play much better than the all-silver ones.

Wouldn't a all wood be hard to play... For a beginner? I'm more adjusted to the lip plate since I play Flute. And even if I dont march yet, I know wood piccolos are NOT good for marching band. Like if it's raining, it can ruin the poor piccolo.

I emailed my BD, and he said this "I wouldn't pay more than 500 or so for it, because it might need repairs, despite what the seller says about it."
People do lie, saying "Beautiful wood piccolo. No problems." But what if there is a problem when you get it? I bought a cheap instrument off ebay...And now I can't even get it fixed or use it..

Is this what you are talking about? A composite? Like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Gemeinhardt-C-Piccolo-Model-4PSH_W0QQitemZ160300350897QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item160300350897&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1205|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

or http://gemeinhardt.com/main.taf?p=2,1,3
This is the one I want, by the way.

Ha ha ha that's not what I meant...I've never tried a composite before.

But, if your band director won't go above 500, wood is probably not a choice. They're pretty expensive. The ones I am familiar with are about...$1,600 each.

For a beginner...I learned on this one: The one in the middle

And it took me a while to get it good, but...It will do that on the lip plate ones, too. For me, it's not much of a difference between lip plate and no lip plate. The piccolo is so small that you don't notice the lip plate, really. From most people I have asked, the non-lip plates are easier to play.

Any piccolo will take some getting used to. Hmmm...I would personally recommend that ROy Seaman Limited model on teh Gemeinhardt website. But it's probably too expensive.

And about the repairs. Piccolos are probably the easiest instrument to break. No matter if you treat it like glass, it WILL break sooner or later. The sad story of piccolos.

But, the one you want looks okay. I don't know anything about that kind, but I do know a girl who has one. She seems to like it just fine. But, I wouldn't recommend buying it from eBAY...

Okay. =D

I do understand that it WILL take time getting adjusted to the embrochure, but the one just with the hole, no lip plate looks scary. I know that sounds stupid...It just does. And plus, wood piccolos are far too expensive. My dad will only buy me one for $100 and possibly $300. Never $1000.

Yes. But cheaper instruments, the brands like Cecillio,Venus and Clarimount, and sometimes Armstrong [No matter how pretty they look. The keys bend easily].

Roy Seaman is FAR too expensive for my dad's budget. On ebay, they can be $1000 and on some websites...Even higher.

Actually, I'm gonna say something different about Ebay. I bought my Gemeinhardt Flute [Model 2SP] off ebay. For $125.. Sounds cheap? Sure, the PRICE was... It works fine! Sure, the Low C key needed to be adjusted by my band director, but it still works great.
I mean, sure, theres bad people on Ebay, but you can't always look at it that way, there can be GOOD people. I'm not saying "TRUST EBAY! D:<" I'm saying that you can't say Ebay isn't that great...I bought a Tamagitchi[This was when I was like.. 9] off someplae else, and it NEVER came. For 3 years. Never came. But what about my Flute? It came. =]

And I went on a few websites, Woodwind and Brasswind,Interstate Music,SamAsh and InstrumentSavings.com. They sell Piccolos on those websites for $600. Why get a $600 instrument, when I can get one for $199?

Sorry if I sound rude.
Sorry that I got a little off topic, feel free to share your ideas.

Beginners, just go for a Yamaha plastic one.

You shouldn't go with wood or all silver cause if you're gonna march with it some day. If it ever rains or the humidity is really bad. it messes it up.
