the speed of hand techniques is attained through relaxation in the shoulders in particular i.e. keeping tension in your shoulders may make you feel more powerful but it is really just slowing you down
do your basics and when you do try and concentrate on a faster draw because the faster you draw the faster you can unleash the strike i.e. trim the fat don?t do un-needed movements
i know that i am not a member of this guild but i just couldn?t resist posting my thoughts on the matter

Always good to know theres more of us. biggrin *Huggles teh Maki*

Tell me thats not very strong looking or something that a martial artist would do. STFU. >w<

Ha ... well, it is nice to meet another martial artist here ... sweatdrop unless he or she is a mentally unstable clone of Mirko or Soul ...

I don’t know if the clone comment was for me or not but I don’t think that I am a clone I mean another me out there would be a little much for society to absorb lol
anyway relaxing the shoulders for me is a perpetual struggle and I hope that one day I can get to the point where I don’t have to try soo hard to keep them loose hell I hope that I will be able to relax them completely because right now I am only like half way there if that
And don’t even get me started on faster draws
Oh and I guess that I should have mentioned foot work, waist twist and focusing the technique fully........ right
Now there are some ways to increase the power of the strike when used correctly

Well everyone had good ideas of increasing speed, and here's another one. This method made my punches very fast and strong. You need to hit the Speed Bag. Yes, the little bag that goes back and forth really fast that boxers hit all the time. The reason for that is because while you are hitting the speed bag, you keep your shoulders up, so you work those out, which helps build endurance for holding your arms up for long periods of time. Secondly, it helps you build RYTHM, and while doing the speed bag, you are bound to mess up once in a while (we're all human). This messing up is actually good, since in order to keep the bag bouncing back and forth, you will need to alter your rythm, which is important in martial arts (know how to shift your rythm). Finally, since the ball is moving realyl fast, SO MUST YOUR HANDS!!!! That means that over time you will become faster with your hands, in order to keep up with the bag. Take it from a boxer, hitting the speed bag helps A LOT if you want to gain speed.

If no one has said this take a weight small like five pounds or less pull in you hand as if your going to do a revers punch from your side and punch 10 times than switch hands then hold the weight strait out and pull it back exicute these at full speed build up to doing more punces and then more weight this will build up muscle speed and strength speed punching a target helps as well just remember to try to stay as loos as posible tight muscles become slow.

Hrmmm...full speed drills with weights can do major damage to joints, as it quickly hyper-extends them, then they snap back into place. Probably great for building speed, but your long term endruance in the martial arts may become limited. It is teh sadness. crying

Slow extension drills will help with speed, though, as well as precision.

Well you don't over extend your arm as long as you dont over extend your fine and I do this with 10lbs never had a problem.
