Both my younger sisters love the book. So do the vast majority of my friends. I'm not Anti-Twilight, per se, but neither do I enjoy nor endorse it. When the movie was first announced, all I could do was cringe. "Oh, great, a movie. Everybody's going to be dragging me to go see it..."
I was right; they did drag me to go see it. But last week, I saw the newest trailer and decided, "I have got to go see that." It looked very giggle-worthy. And I was right. Here are my thoughts on it:
There are four very good reasons to go see this movie: the actors of Edward Cullen, James, Eric (I was not expecting a cutie-pie like that), and Jacob Black.
The relationships between Bella and her parents were handled much better in the movie. And Charlie was a pretty cool guy--awkward, but pretty cool. (The double-barrel shotgun. I like. biggrin )
The fight scene was amazing, yes. So was the part where Eddie made his car skid. Actually, most of the special effects were done well, and the cinematography, overall, was fantastic.
The dialogue... biggrin . A friend of mine describd it as "soap opera worthy," and yes, it was. Wonderfully awful.
Sexual chemistry between the two main characters? Nil, IMHO. So more wonderfully awfulness.
Cleolinda says she likes the books like cake and Twinkies. The books have too much against them for me to agree with that. But the movie? Yes, the movie is cake and Twinkies. It's nothing to be compared, overall, to LotR or Harry Potter--and please don't--but it is an enjoyable movie nevertheless.
Just make sure the fans don't have popcorn to pelt you with as you gigglesnort your way through the movie. I think I still have some butter in my hair...
