O.o I looked around for information, too.
Nothing. But putting those two words
together, "Cirque" and "Mechanical" has
piqued my interest. I wish I knew what
it was about!!
gonk Edit: Ok, I ended up searching for info
on the New Yorker website, and the
reason you didn't find anything is because
it's not called Cirque Mechanical. It is
called "Cirque Mechanics Birdhouse
Factory". Here is the original article.
"CIRQUE MECHANICS / “BIRDHOUSE FACTORY”
Chris Lashua, who brought nineteen-twenties-era German wheel gymnastics to new heights in his work with Cirque du Soleil, has created his own show. Inspired by early-twentieth-century factory life (and Chaplin’s “Modern Times”), it is an industrial-age fable, suitable for all ages. Laid over the thin layer of plot is a rich panoply of acrobatics, breathtaking contortions, ensemble movement simulating machine works, juggling, and neat aerial tricks. (New Victory, 209 W. 42nd St. 646-223-3010. Nov. 14 at 7, Nov. 15 at 2 and 7, and Nov. 16 at noon. Through Dec. 14.)"And searching for it under this new
title brought up a load of information,
including youtube videos. So, here's
some of that, too.
