"Oh, calm yourself brother. He's adorable, I promise. We'll take care of him together. He won't touch any of your things. He won't hurt us, and he needs a home. " A gentle voice comforted a seething male. The voice belonged to the angry man's double. However, he was more fluid and soft than his darker half. His movements were always calming, his hand slowly writing calming circles on his brother's back and his other hand taking the other's rough hand in his own.
"Promise me you will not hurt him. He has been hurt too many times as a child. Promise me this. " He whispered, even his voice soothing and calming, as one would feel with the ocean waves or a steady river. He smiled softly and gave the angry male a kiss on the cheek. "Silly." He joked with a smile.
"... ******** it. Fine." The younger of the two growled softly to the other. Unlike before, he had calmed down a lot. It wasn't apparent on the outside. After all, he was still tense as if irritated and he growled as if annoyed. However, it was internal. His tenseness and growling was just a part of his hostile nature. At times, when he is alone with his brother it is different, but to protect his brother from the world he had long ago built a barrier against the world within him. However, that wall was also a double edged sword. He looked down at the hand in his. The soft fingers stroking his calloused ones. He gently took the other's hand in his, enveloping it.
"... I promise." He replied calmly, still growling. His eyes seemed to narrow at the sight of the door he had to pass through to see the kid. Honestly, he did not want a kid. He preferred to be alone with his brother and not let anyone else in. His brother wanted to let someone else in.... he had no choice.
"I love you." The lighter of the two, a man by the name of Maziel, whispered into his twin's ear. He kissed the other on the cheek one more time. Those three words were hidden in everything done to each other. The way his brother had enveloped his hand was a sign of affection, though a subtle one. The words themselves meant little to each other. they had long ago stopped using that phrase. But today was different. They now had a new member into the family and, of course, that means they may not have the same time to love each other as they once had. They may have to change their ways to more vocal means.
He slowly opened the door with his brother, Xeviel.
There lay a thin, scarred and frightened boy. The fur on his horse half had multiple scars down the back. The boy's own back also had multiple scarring. His left eye was horribly mauled and obviously blind. The left eye could only open half way, and had a scar that ran through it. The eye itself was unpleasant, for it bore no retina or pupil. There was only the whiteness. His other eye held a fearful look, though bruised. He was lying in the corner on an oversized pillow. He let out a whimper at the sight of the twins. One looked angry. He let out another small cry of fear. He cowered, pressing himself ever deeper to his corner in an attempt to hide himself.
He took off the label of a necklace around him and thrust it towards the twins. He desperately hoped that this was somehow a deterrent, but it only made them walk over to him. No! No!!
The twins approached the young child in different fashions. One was hunched over, tensed, angry. The other was calm, content, soothing. The soothing twin leaned down to look at the label before looking at the other and nodding. This frightened fawn was their child. Their... responsibility.
The lighter twin gently touched the boy's... no... Malik's roan fur. The felt the trembling, a hidden fear, underneath the soft skin of the child. He sat down to be on the same level as the boy, rather then looming over him. He smiled softly and continued to stroke with a gentle, soothing hand. "Shhh..." He whispered. He one hand started to press, to rub out the tense muscles in a massage. "Hush now... my baby..." He whispered his song, one his mother used to give him... when she could. He smiled softly at the other, leaning down to kiss every scar, as a mother would kiss 'boo-boos' better. He ended softly by kissing the boy's mauled eye and finishing his slow song. After he felt the boy was sufficiently relaxed, he continued.
"I'm Maziel... your new daddy." He whispered, always quiet so to not spook the child. "... The one standing... is Xeviel, your other new daddy. He may seem mean sometimes, but I promise you he has a lovely heart." He smiled and kissed the child's forehead.
The boy curled up into a corner as one of the people actually touched him. Panicked, he felt like kicking out. He however, resisted for fear of punishment. He allowed the scary male to rub him softly... and.. hum? He looked confused and frightened. This man was singing a lullaby to him.... it sounded nice. He softly relaxed to the loving touch and the warm kisses. this was different from what he was used to. He listened contently to what his new father had to say. He gently reached out to cling to the nicer man's shirt. His voice was barely above a whisper. "Maziel... Xeviel..."
Xeviel watched the whole scene sternly, growling softly. It was not the methods he disliked. He found he was starting to hate his boy already. He was so pathetic and spineless! Why did his brother have to choose this weak and pitiful creature as a son?! He growled, gritting his teeth. Look! The kid couldn't even stop whimpering for a moment and was all curled in a corner! He was practically a girl! He's probably the most wimpiest girl he's ever met! Though he felt himself suddenly veer off anger once his name was mentioned. Soft, and weak, that voice was, resonating of pain and fear. Nothing of his face or posture changed, except for the fact he now closed his eyes to the scene.
"Lovely... lovely..." Maziel whispered to the boy. "You are a lovely boy... Beautiful..." He whispered, holding the other gently. "Malik is a lovely boy. We're going to take you home now. Dinner's on the table and is prepared just for you." He whispered, gently taking the boy's hand in his as his brother once did to him. "No fear, my son. No fear." He whispered to the other, gently stroking his fur with his free hand. "There is nothing to be afraid of here. Safe... you;re safe now. Nothing can hurt you here. Not when I and Xeviel are around. " He whispered, soothing the other before slowly letting go and getting up, attentively watching the child's actions. He looked barely strong enough to life his own arms, could he walk?
The fawn looked at his happier father. For those few moments, the man was all that existed in his world of pain and fear. A glorious, shining light that protected him from all the terrors of the world that were clawing to get in his world and destroy him. He looked at his hand enveloped in such a kind hand. So gentle, how easily the other could hurt him by squeezing... but no.. a perfect amount of pressure for reassurance but never hard enough to harm him.
Then his older father started getting up, he attempted to follow. He didn't want to be alone! He didn't want to be left in this room! "Daddy!" He whispered outloud softly, not wanting to be left to be adopted by a meaner father. He wanted go home and have that meal made for him! He managed to get on all fours shakily. He took a step and collapsed. "Daddy!" He called out again.
Maziel was quick to lean down and try and approach the boy, but his reflexes were not quick enough. The boy was going to hurt himself with how fragile he was. He hid his panic with attentiveness as he leaned forward in a futile attempt to catch the boy. He was just too slow.
The darker half wasn't too slow. Daddy, the voice called out. A small voice, tiny. Insignificantly small and filled with the terror of being alone, or being left vulnerable. He was there when the boy collapsed in an instant, scooping the child up before the child managed to fall completely and hurt himself. He made the boy as comfortable in his arms as possible. "No more walking." He growled softly. "Do you want to break a bone? Stupid." He growled as he walked forward, toward their room. He didn't know what caused him to rescue the boy. Instinct perhaps. He wasn't dropping the boy anytime soon now. He gripped the child in his arms, glancing constantly around for danger. No one was going to touch this kid while he was around. No ******** one.
Malik waited for the fall, the pain of impact and the added pain of something being broken. He closed his eyes, bracing himself. Were his daddies going to leave him once they saw how weak he was? He waited and braced himself for the pain. However, none came. He was scooped up before any damage was done. He opened his eyes softly. A rough, angry voice. Calling him stupid, and ordering a ban on walking until the boy was healthy again. His eyes widened, hurt by bing called stupid but.. this was not the kind father he trusted. This was the angry one, the one he expected to hurt him like his previous owner did... Then why would this man save him? He closed his eyes and pulled himself closer to the other, listening to the steady beating of the other man's heart. "Xeviel..." He whispered softly.
The lighter brother looked surprised. This was not like his brother to help another. It was more like his brother to watch the boy fall and then complain how weak he was. Why? He chose not to question it further. He was happy his son wasn't injuried an overjoyed that his brother took such a liking to the child. He slowly got up to follow the two back home. He smiled all the while. This was a much better outcome then he could've predicted. His brother had taken on a surprising liking to the child, a seemingly protective instinct kicking in. Malik on the other hand was allowed to experience a small hint of Xeviel's kindness, a kindness greater than his.
The new family stepped out of the room where they had adopted the child with the boy in the arms of a fighter. The newly adopted son closed both his eyes, listening to a heart he had not known to exist. The son was calm now, protected by two people he was willing to trust. A fighter who was angry all the time but confusingly kind and a loving father that would love him always. The carrier of the boy stayed silent, ever active to any potential dangers of life, driven by an instinctve need to protect from his past of violence and malice. The follower of the two simply smiled and watched a peaceful moment that would not last long. After all, they would have to get the boy acquainted with their room, and then the three of them would have to be acquainted to everyone else on board.

Xeviel was the first to awaken. Yawning softly, he looked down at his mirror image sleeping peacefully in his arms. He closed his eyes and leaned down to brush is lips against his older brother's forehead. The other looked so peaceful and calm in the mornings... he couldn't believe that he was the brother of such a kind man. Sometimes he couldn't believe this man could still choose to love him despite all the bad things he's done. He slowly pulled away, leaving his twin to sleep some more. He normally simply rolled off the bed. However, this morning was different. Though his brother had bought a large, comfortable doggie bed for their child, Malik chose to sleep in bed with them and lat on his other side.
Gazing at the boy, his gaze seemed to soften as they often did when alone with his brother. He gently stroked the boy's hair. Afterward, he got up and walked out of bed. He currently wore blue pj's. He didn't want to sleep as he usually did, in his trunks, when the kid was around. He didn't bother washing his face. He didn't even go try to make breakfast. Instead he brought a chair towards the bed and sat in it to watch his brother and his son sleep contentedly in bed. It always brought him a strange feeling of satisfaction to watch over his brother, and it seemed he enjoyed watching over the new member of the family as well.
Maziel awoke five minutes after his brother. He yawned and stretched much like a lazy cat, not even opening his eyes to the world just yet. After much movement, he finally opened his eyes. There sat his brother, watching intently as he always did. He smiled and gently embraced his brother, giving him a morning kiss to the cheek. "Morning." He whispered happily into his darker half's ear. From there he turned to greet his son. However, the boy still slept on. He smiled, remembering how Malik curled up against his brother an fell asleep, exhausted.
The male crawled to the sleeping child to gently touch and kiss his scars in a hope that with love they would fade and become barely noticeable. Only then did he slip from his own covers, revealing matching pj's to his brother. He smiled contentedly at his brother, holding a conversation by eyesight alone. When he turned away to tuck the still-sleeping into bed, their conversation had ended.
The twins allowed their new son to sleep on as they both took a towel and walked into the bathroom. From there they shared the shower room. In their opinion it wasn't wrong or dirty to be naked in front of one another. It was natural and it saved water. they could properly wash themselves now, there were no longer spots they couldn't reach and clean properly. The two helped the other clean themselves fully before finishing and stepping out. Even then the twins helped dry each other with no shame.
After a refreshing shower, the twins both placed on appropriate clothing. The pajamas were placed in their proper spots and they went to make themselves a big breakfast with plenty for the child when he awoke. Whilst Xeviel was preparing the pancake mix Maziel was making bacon and eggs with the toast in the toaster. The various juices from apple to cranberry were already placed on their small dining table and the table was set quite well.
With their cooperation, the twins had made a large breakfast. One gazed at their art particularly proudly whilst the other looked impassive. In his opinion, food was food. He did not speak it to his brother. The two had a connection between them, they already knew how the other felt. Maziel approached his brother to kiss his cheek affectionately, nuzzling his younger brother's neck. Xeviel pulled his brother close, eyes closed in enjoyment. However, they both froze as the voice of a small child reached their ears.
"Daddies?" Malik asked. He had awoken alone. He was frightened. Was he felt alone? Maybe... maybe they really didn't want him. He felt like crying at the thought. He wasn't allowed to walk either. The angry daddy had called a ban on walking. Perhaps he had called the ban for more than just one reason. He bit his lip at the thought. Was he to be abandoned again? After all, maybe by refusing to sleep in his bed he might've made it harder on his family.
He called out again, frightened that he would upset someone with his voice. "Daddies?" He had to make sure his fathers were there. He needed to.
"Coming, Malik dear! Your fathers were just readying breakfast just for you! I hope you enjoy our food. We worked very hard on it." A happy, calming voice echoed from the kitchen. Maziel gave one last kiss to his brother before watching him leave to fetch their child. He arranged his son's plate just so that the eggs and bacon made a smile on the pancake. He smiled back at the little face he made before sitting down to wait for his brother to retrieve the child. The mornings were always so peaveful. He enjoyed that much. It sometimes got hectic during the day, especially with his brother's tendency to attack and become violent at the slightest hint of hostility. At times it was hard to calm his brother down and sometimes even he got frustrated and angry at the situation. Never at his brother, however. He would never become angry with him.
Xeviel growled softly, walking to the child coldly. He said nothing to the child. Instead he looked over him as if he cared not for the boy's weakness and expected him to stand and walk by himself. However, he did nothing to show that was how he felt. Instead, he obediently picked up the fawn into his arms, one of his hands gently brushing the boy's face as he did so in his own subtle way to show his affection without words or obvious actions. He was never one to show his true emotions. He and his brother had long ago learned to read each other's body language no matter how faint the signal. If one was feeling bad the other would go comfort him. If one was angry the other would calm him down. In a world where they had no one to rely on but each other, their bond grew until they become inseparable. However, many times their inseparation had become a double edged sword and hurt them... but they still remained together, connected with fibers stronger than steel but more fragile than a spider's thread.
Malik visibly calmed down as his kinder father answered. He had noticed something. He noticed that it seemed the two never separated. Even through sleep, dinner and the bedtime activities such as brushing the teeth the twins had never once separated longer than the time needed for one of the two to relieve himself in the restrooms. He hoped that one day he would be able to be that close to someone and not feel terrified that he was to be harmed. All his life he had been told he was a miserable being that should've never been born... but these two made him feel wanted. Even his harsher father, despite his frequent growling and snarling of hostility toward everyone, had never raised a hand against him. It has been too long since he had last felt a touch that held no malice in it. It was a strange feeling, to be loved.
He allowed himself to be lifted without a word. He felt that he was not a time for words, not right now. He gripped his father's shirt and pulled hsi face close to his muscled chest quietly. He breathed in the musky scent that was father Xeviel. After all, the boy had never been allowed to be held in such a lovely way. He allowed himself to feel calm and content for the first time in too many years. Yes... he was happy here. No one would hurt him here. However, if his parents left him alone he was sure the world would turn on him again in the instant they abandoned him. He whimpered softly at the thought and gripped the cloth harder in his small hands.
Xeviel allowed the kid to cling. He knew perfectly well how the child felt. He once felt like that too, once. He growled and clutched the boy to his chest ever so slightly as he walked into the kitchen. His face was a mask, but the message in his eyes were clear to his brother. This kid must never be left alone ever again, not even if it meant their own deaths. He however kept his eyes away from the child. Such an intense look would scare him. He placed the kid onto a chair delicately and sat beside his brother, one hand going to touch his other half's for reassurance.
Maziel's eyes flickered up to his brother. For a moment, his smile faltered. So, it was serious, his fear. He smiled softly at his son, reaching over to hand the boy his food. "go on, eat. See?It's smiling at you so you can eat it. Here's some butter and maple syrup if you want." He smiled before digging in himself. It's been a while since he's eaten something this good. Usually they had bland breakfasts of healthy cereals and soy milk. Now, they were celebrating their new arrival. However, he noticed his son wasn't touching his food. Carefully he took a piece of his son's pancake to take a bite. "See? It's not poisoned or anything." He smiled.
Malik watched his food quietly, poking at it. It's been a while since he had eaten, though it was clearly evident of him being so weak. He watched his fathers tuck into their dishes and his happier dad take a bite of his food. He did as they did, eating the eggs and bacon, finding them delicious. It has been a while since he's eaten something so lovely. He then copied how they poured the syrup onto the pancake, and he was quick to be scarfing food down, starving. He was so hungry!
The fathers glanced at each other, words shooting through their eyes when their lips were concentrating on food. The boy seemed to enjoy the food, one sentence spoke of love. Another spoke worriedly about how the boy was eating so quickly. As they had a heated debate on how to have the boy gain weight, they settled to a conclusion in less than a second as they finished their plates and allowed Malik to eat a few more pancakes before putting it all away. It was best not to have the boy eat too much too fast, they concluded.
"Malik dear, the food was good, yes?" Maziel asked happily, making a quick rinse of the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. He smiled at the boy. "We should go now and meet the rest of the crew. It won't be scary, I promise. Remember what we first told you? Nobody will hurt you when we're here." He smiled and pat the boy, allowing him to be lifted by his brother once again. It was good, everyone was getting alone fine in his eyes. Hopefully as they explored the ship to find people and become acquainted that this peace would stay. After all, being around his brother guaranteed that violence was about to occur at any given time.
With the boy's approval, the three were soon free to walk out. The boy clung to his angrier father's shirt tightly now, depending on him and hia happier father to protect him from this new environment. Xeviel stayed like a calm guardian over the boy, ever alert for any sort of danger that may endanger his new son and, more importantly, his brother.Said brother was calm and happy, alert to find new friends and meet new people. After all, this ship shouldn't be all bad. It was best to make the best of such a situation.
