Favorite Prog "Forefathers"

DT is my favorite band in the world (their cover of Dark Side of the Moon was AMAZING). But in reference to the forefathers of Prog. I love Yes, Rush and ELP the most. What about you guys??

Of course, Rush and DT are amazing. I don't know if you would count Fates Warning, but they're pretty awesome. If you couldn't tell, I have a thing for virtuosic bands 3nodding

prog metal is said to be pioneered by DT , queensryche, and fates warnings....

but the clean metal imbibements in rush progressive music cant be ignored....so that makes rush and also Pink floyd my fav prog forefathers

I don't know if you would count Fates Warning, but they're pretty awesome.

I know many a respectable person who says Dream Theater took their sound from Fates Warning, so it's very possible they came first.

But Queensryche was Prog starting with The Warning, so that solves the mystery of who technically started it.

And as for me, The Nice and The Moody Blues are my two favourite Progressive Rock forefathers.
