If Lucas had thought smuggling the baby into his house without his father noticing was hard, it was even more of a challenge to sneak her out again. He'd had to resort to going up and down the fire escape luckily located right outside the bathroom window, and had been managing for a good week to go undetected. After all, he couldn't just leave the infant alone.
And could not, under ANY circumstances, let his father know that he had a baby. Lucas got a headache just imagining the horrible things that might be said or done.
"Military school," he muttered. "Being grounded until I'm thirty....ah, god."
The baby, ever-quiet, ever angry-looking, burbled unhappily and pulled at Lucas's hair.

"No, really, querido. Qué voy a hacer contigo?"
Parinasa was never a particularly inconspicuous person, much less so when she was carrying a small human child and speaking to it softly in Spanish. The boy didn't seem particularly fazed by the entire situation and was watching her with solemn grey eyes, hands bundled in her shirt. When Rin woofed softly at him, his expression changed from one of mild interest to one of captivation, and he reached up and closed a hand on her nose.
This rather astounded the wolf-woman, and she yipped, laying her ears flat in alarm and jerking away from the boy, completely impervious to passers-by. "No, no!" she said as gently as she could while still sounding firm. "No es polite, child," she said quietly. "Aragorn." The boy's face lit up at his name, and Rin shook her head.
After a while, Rin ceased to be interesting, and Aragorn looked around. Nothing really caught his attention until Rin walked past a shock of bright hair. Intrigued by the colour, he made a soft noise and reached over her shoulder. The hair seemed to belong to another baby. He wanted.
The noise and reach combination surprised Rin, who stopped and turned to see what the child was reaching for. Tilting her ears back, she tipped her head to one side and regarded the other child, for whom Aragorn was still reaching. She was in the arms of a...teenager? Oh, really.
"Don't point; it's rude," she said mildly to the boy and then looked apologetically at Lucas.

"SHE'S NOT MINE."
The words blurted out of Lucas before he could stop them, and he flushed a brilliant shade of red.
"I. I mean. Um. She. She's my. She's not mine. But. Um. Hi," he managed, sounding as though speaking was costing him a terrible effort.
"Hnnrmf."
No. Baby did not approve. She glared at the new squishy creature and her big Talky Thing, pudgy face twisted like a bad prune. NO.

Oh, she wasn't his? A younger sibling then, perhaps. Rin wasn't really sure how to respond to that outburst and canted her ears halfway back in unease...and then when Lucas attempted to....make amends? Was that what he was doing? She smiled slightly and relaxed her stance.
"He's not mine, either. Not biologically, anyways," she said, re-settling Aragorn and looking at the little girl. She was making a face. "She's...ah...adorable," she said. Lies. Not with that face, she wasn't. "Qué mono." There. It could mean cute, or it could mean monkeylike. He'd just have to decide for himself.
Now that he was facing the other way, Aragorn watched the other baby solemnly, expression changing merely from one of interest to one of contentment. He seemed almost impervious to the fact that she was scowling at everyone, and reached out a hand to her anyway.
"Aragorn," Rin said softly. "Stop that, now."

Ducking his head down and feeling all kinds of a fool, Lucas tried to regain himself. God, if he was this easily unsettled by a stranger on the street, how would he react if his father caught him?
...well, probably by spontaneously combusting, most likely.
"He's...not yours?" he parroted curiously, trying to make things less awkward. "Like...adopted? 'Cause mine's...uh, her name's Ivy...she's. Um. Hard to explain."
Ivy glared at the extended hand. Was it a trick? A trap? New Squishy-thing didn't seem too particularly threatening...

At Lucas' awkward little explanation, Rin found herself smiling. So the little one came from...unusual circumstances? "Mine is....similarly difficult to explain," she answered with a nod and a smile. "Some most unusual circumstances led to my, ah...adoption of him." She nodded again, then shrugged. "It was not my initial intent to adopt, and I suppose we can leave it at that."
Her response made Aragorn withdraw, and he blinked solemnly at her a few times before turning and clutching at Rin's shirt again. His solemn grey gaze shifted to Lucas, and he gave a little smile. He seemed nice, even if the other little one was making angry faces at him.

"Yeah," Lucas said awkwardly, hoisting Ivy up again as she tried to wriggle away. "I uh....I was...gonna go and try to find the guy that gave 'er to me. Just to. Y'know. Ask why. That sort of thing."
He was ignoring her now. Ivy's face crumpled and she reached out, chubby fingers clawing at the air. No. NO. You did NOT look at her and then IGNORE her.
"Guaaagh!"

"If you find him, please tell me where I can," Rin answered earnestly, looking Lucas in the eye and smiling in a way that was, in reality, rather unpleasant. "I have a few things I'd like to say to him, as well." Nodding sagely, she ran a hand through her hair and looked at Ivy when she started screaming. Ugh. Aragorn wasn't particularly noisy (for that she was blessed), but other children...were. And she didn't like crying things.
At the noise, Aragorn turned back to the little girl, expression one of mild interest more than anything else. So now she was obviously annoyed at him for something, though he wasn't entirely sure what.

"Can do," Lucas said, saluting feebly. "I'd just as soon report him to the cops, too. Who even knows where he's stolen these guys from. And...I mean, what if there's more? Some sorta...practical joke black market baby ring."
Was he looking at her again? Yes? Good. Ivy snuffled, huffed, and deigned to give Aragorn a passing glance.
And then she threw her pacifier at him.
