I hear a lot about people being "too big" for Lolita clothing, brand mainly.

However, I find myself being in the complete opposite end of that.
I'm too small for most brand clothing.

Anybody else teensy weensy?
What do you do to get around it? I mean, we don't quite get to use shirring.

-raises hand- Im a pocket lolita (a small lolita) annahouse has sizes for tiny people. Sometimes I'll ask websites if they can take it in a bit, they dont really mind. http://www.sweetrococo.com/ on sweet rococo you can make an account and put in your mesurements. And taking clothes to a tailor or making them yourself is always helpful/fun. Hope I helped! heart

I second Anna House. I recently ordered a blouse from them and they made it in a smaller custom size for no extra charge.

And shirred items are great, they usually fit smaller sizes as well as larger.

Shirring can work for smaller lolitas too. I have a tiny chest and shirring helps my clothes not look baggy.

Shirring is stretchy elastic sewn into a garment to make it cover more sizes. It helps expand to bigger size3s and shrink to smaller ones.
If you can see from the picture, the top of the JSK that I'm wearing in the picture has shirring all the way around.

I have a very small rib cage, so my bust is 31inches . Shirring helps JSKs fit me better.

See how the dress looks like you could stretch the fabric sideways? It's elastic stitching that makes something more or less one-size-fits-most.

I'd suggest tailoring stuff yourself. Youtube can help you learn easily, or just ask someone at a sewing store or a friend. Taking in clothing is FAR easier than letting it out. I usually have to buy my clothes big and take them in on the sides, otherwise they will be too short on me.

This is a good idea, however, when I want something tailored, I usually take it to a tailor, because I know that she will do a better job than me. There's a really great tailor down near me. I always co to her, because she's nice, her prices are good, and her work is great. I have to ask her to hem pants for me all the time (I'm shorter than the average American! XD). Pants that I can actually wear is SO worth the extra $8. She has also taken in a couple dresses for me. I've never had her take in any lolita, but I bet that she could do it quite well. So, if there is a good tailor near you, why not drop in with one of your cute, frilly dresses?

If you aren't comfortable making something as complex as a dress yourself, I would suggest ordering dresses custom made from domestic seamstresses or tailors. Making clothing in non-standard sizes is something that works really well by commission.
I'd specifically look for one who works in lolita. There's probably a few in guild.

I probably think in those terms because that's what I do. sweatdrop
