"Hm.....Warm.....Toasty.....If this ain't Paradise, then someone smack me over the head..."

The young adult had, once again, given himself a self-exile from shadows of his temple hidden among the redwoods. Now he was found on the shores of of the beach, just a flight and spin off from Scrub Forest.

Sighing with contentment, the Pan'lun wiggled deeper into the sands as the heat drifting through the scales made him drowsy and loopy. Just near the waterline, Valin was scampering around while digging for shells, shiney stone, or shiney objects in general to appease his need to collect. Ah well, at least he wasn't pestering his master for anything, which was alright in Toshihiro's world of blessfulness. Tounge flicking out to catch any unknown scents (and finding none), the serpent sighed and closed his eyes to drift off into dreamland.

Yes...it seemed like absolutely NOTHING could ruin this moment!

Zephyiote was having a good day herself. It was warm, the sun was shining on a cloudless sky, and there was just enough breeze to make flight easy. Ah, what a day. It would be a shame to spend it locked indoors. So where better to go on such a nice day, than to the beach? Maybe she could catch a few fish for lunch? It's not like anyone would miss her back at the temple. They wouldn't even notice she was gone. That was a small benefeit to her social status. At least no one bothered her about what she did/was going to do.

She set to a slow descent, aiming for the the golden sands bordering the water. Oh, it looked so good! It would be even better when she got there. She set a steeper course, picking up a little more speed. There was no need to rush, but she liked to fly fast anyway. She loved a good race. Even if it was just with herself.

She landed with a prominent thud! Displacing large heaps of sand with gusts of wind. Okay, maybe her landing was a little harsher than she'd planned. But no big deal, right? She was...by herself. Out of the corner of her eye...eyes. She spotted another, male Pan'Lun, not too far off. She frowned a little. Oh great. Just great. That meant she would have to relocate.

Zephyiote frowned. She didn't want to move. Couldn't something go her way once? No...she would go chase this stranger off. She started off towards him at a stready trot, looking intent. But paused a good dozen yards away, shooting him annoyed glances. "Just what do you think you are doing here?" she called out to him.

One good thing about Toshihiro that he wasn't easily awaken, and the warmth of the "sand nest" he had made had pretty much locked the Pan'lun into dreamland. Therefore, he had not heard the sharp command/request; only his loud snores and sleepy sighs of happiness answered the female.

Valin, on the otherhand, had been wide awake. He paniced at first as the dust cloud nearly buried the small creature, but he manged to dig himself out and shake loose the grains from his fur as the females' voice got his attention. Crittering curiously, the burrowing monkey scampered over and blinked up at the newcomer; her wings, coloring and the feathers tied to her mane were worthy of admiration.

But, due to his packrat nature and eye for valuable stuffs, her pendant is what really caught his eye.

Valin bounced up and down while making grabby motions at the necklace. He wanted to see!

Zephyiote rolled multiple pairs of eyes at this other painter, asleep in dream land. Whatever. He wouldn't bother her that way. However, she was still not 'alone'. A small monkey, undoubtedly his familiar...he wanted her necklace?

Zephyiote smirked, flashing sharp teeth, and leaned her head in close, while careful to keep her neck arched up, with her necklace out of reach. [b"My my...you look to be quite the delicacy, thine small primate. Should I dine on you?" Zephyiote sat back, removing her head from near him. She was joking, of course. She wasn't that hungry. She'd had quite a nice meal yesterday. And eating a familiar...that was a BIG no-no. That was one of the worst crimes she could think of, really. But it was fun to tease them. Even if they didn't always take it as a joke.

She touched the gem around her neck out of habit. To say it was important to her...was an understatement. It was her life, one of the few things she really cared for. "Sorry, dear chap. I really can not just give this to you. You might try and escape with it. That would be crude, I admit, though I am not quite sure how much dialect you pick up in the first place. You might be completely oblivious to what I am saying! Zephyiote put a finger to her mouth, as if deep in thought.

"Might I make a proposition? I will allow you to examine the gem, but I cannot let you have it. Do you promise to behave yourself?" She wasn't sure whether he understood or not, or could talk, but hopefully he would get the idea that if he settled down, she would let him touch the little gem.

Zephyiote slipped the cord off from around her neck, and dangled it just out of reach of the small mammal. This was a bit odd of her, she knew. Normally she wasn't so amiable to creatures. But she was in a most excellent mood. And besides, this little monkey had good taste. This was a very important necklace. She would honor him with seeing it! She smiled. Ah yes, how delightful.
