Quick as lightning it seemed, Mikaril found his dagger clasped in his hand, only half aware that one of his fingers couldn't seem to feel the texture of the handle. He didn't know how effective he would be against an angry and obviously spell-trained female. It was a pity he only learned one pressure point; all that exposed flesh!

He saw her tensing up and prepared himself for the emminent charge, when he heard Kyil's call to shield his eyes. Without question, he brought his cloak up over his face and turned his body to the side. He didn't see the immediate result, but he just barely heard Kyil's words, felt the assault of the light on his eyelids, and he heard the female's scream of outrage.

"Spell thief?" he mouthed as he uncovered his face and blinked in the sudden harsh light. For the second time he felt his eyes widen; the cage was not only back, but this time it was surrounding the female. He looked over at Kyil. "D-did you....?" He caught himself then. What the Hell was wrong with him? The female wasn't going to be able to follow; it was time to withdraw.

He quickly scrambled out the window, leaving the screeching female behind, and clambered up to the rooftop. He noticed that there was another roof only a few feet away, with various protruding shadows that hinted at a secure hiding place. He knocked a few loose tiles off of the roof and threw them down below to hint at an exit leading to the ground, then he leaped toward the adjacent roof.

It should have been an easy jump, but it seemed as though in midair he suddenly felt as though he had contracted a bad case of vertigo. He felt himself falling and in desparation he threw out his arm and managed to grab the edge of the roof. Hoisting himself up, he walked heavily to one of teh thicker shadows and sat down hard. Blinking away the beads of sweat that seemed to appear from nowhere, he hurriedly began to remove his armor, feeling suddenly as though it was too hot to wear.

It was up. The cage was back in all it's blinding mysticalness. The understanding was gone with it as well. Kyil no longer understood what he had done. He could not recall the hand gestures he had made or the word he knew he had spoken. Still, this was a mystery for another time. Now was the time to escape!

Kyil followed hot on Mikaril's heels, though he was curious as to why they did not run to the street. Still, he went up, following Mikaril's movements with a curious watchfulness. Now was the time to observe. He would ask his questions later. The jump across from roof to roof was simple, and Kyil lightly landed on his feet about the same time Mikaril nearly fell. he spun, his eyes opening wider in alarm. Ah! The poison! It had to be effecting him! And with his heartrate beating more strongly...

Kyil followed Mikaril into the shadow he had selected. He was watching his master, seeing the signs of sweating and he worried about how quickly it could be spreading.

"Master Mikaril. The poison you took earlier, I think it is well into your system. If I had known earlier...I could have used a point to try and slow it's movements into your system. I...I wish to try and carry you to the nearest potions shop. May I have your permission? "

Mikaril paused in the act of removing his chestplate to peer at Kyil, whom for a reason he kept adamantly denying, seemed blurred at the edges and having an extra set of eyes. Shaking his head, he staggered to his feet, quickly replacing the armor he had taken off. "Can't do that....they'll see us for sure. 's why I knocked the tile off; they'll think we ran off....through the streets..." He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and waved nonchalantly at Kyil. "Besides, I'll be fine. We've got to get back to the cave."

He began an unsteady walk toward the opposite side of the roof, intending to jump a few more before finally making his way to the ground. All the while he tried to ignore the growing sensation inside his stomach that felt as though a rat had gotten inside him somehow and was attempting to chew its way out. He knew that he had failed to get enough of the poison out of him; either that or it was a particularly potent one; but he would deny it for as long as he was able.

He managed another less-than-graceful scramble with the next roof, but the one after proved to be too much. He reached out and had just enough time to register that his hand had failed to grasp the ledge before he found himself plummeting down. He mustered just enough concentration to execute a pitifully weak levitation, which didn't make the rubble-strewn alley ground any softer, but at least he managed not to break anything or land quite loud enough to attract immediate attention. Instead he lay there groaning, squeezing his eyes shut as everything in the dull and dingy alley began to take on the nightmarish hues seen by those with fevers. Or those breathing the fumes of Haellara's nightmare paint. He gritted his teeth.
"I....really...hate.....poison."

Kyil wanted to check Milaril out. Check his pulse and his eyes. he wanted to feel within his mouth to test for his tempeture. However his Master seemed adamant about ignoring the poison. it was a foolish thing to do. Kyil was torn though. he was used to obaying. Never before had he come into a situation like this.

"Master Mikaril...Master Mikaril please..." He pleaded as he followed him to the edge of the roof. His heart shuddered as Mikaril made his first jump. "Please Master Mikaril!" he began as Mikaril made it to the edge of the roof.

"There is a reason so little poison is used in needle traps! That is because they are exceptionally potent!" He really did try to explain to Mikaril. His words came to a frozen halt in his throat though. Mikaril had jumped...and most certainly NOT made it to the next roof.

"Master!" he wailed and ran to the edge of the roof. Looking down he could see where Mikaril had landed. Kyil glanced about, and after a moment of fretting, he swung a leg over the edge and began to climb down the wall. His white brows knit together worriedly. His lack of action concerning Mikaril's poisoning had nearly killed him! Once it was Kyil reached the ground, which really wasn't too far away, he knelt to examin him.

"Master...Forgive me...you may punish me later if you must...but I must insist on disobaying you..." His words were tense with anxiety as he reached for Mikaril in an attempt to haul him up and onto his back.

Drifting somewhere between a dark dream and an even darker reality, he became aware of Kyil standing over him, his face the very picture of concern. He was speaking, but his words seemed far away and drowned out by a roaring in his ears, as though his blood was rushing through his head like a river. Which it probably was; it hadn't exactly been the smartest thing to do, running across rooftops with poison eating away at him.

He felt his face burning, and he wondered whether it was the fever or his own embarassment. What had he been trying to prove? Was this the sort of pig-headed example he was to show Kyil in order to make him a good thief? What had he shown his friend other than how to completely bungle a robbery that was supposed to have been easy? He fought to clear his brain for just one second in order to piece it together. Maybe it was a lingering bit of the resentment he has entered the city with; about his forsaking the teachings of his brother and setting out on his own, determined to figure things out for himself. Well, he had done quite a job so far. He couldn't help but think that if the poison didn't have its deadly way with him, his brother, had he been around, surely would.

Kyil's face hovered past his vision again, and this time he felt a stab of guilt along with the gnawings of the invisible rat. Not only was he showing Kyil how an idiot did things, but he was putting his friend through Hell, and after he had been kicked out of his home and made to live another kind of Hell for who knows how many nights. At that moment, he felt as though he could just drop dead from his own carelessness and stupidity.

But instead of dropping dead, he felt himself being hauled up. His last thought before his mind surrendered to the swirling colors and surreal sounds of fever dreams was How could Kyil carry me and my armour? I didn't think he was that strong....

He gained no response. That was not good in his mind. Kyil could have wasted time fussing over Mikaril but he choose to try and hurry. He knew where there were a few shops they could go...hopefully one was close enough to save his master.

Strength was not one of Kyil's greatest qualities. His delicate frame and graceful form were his gifts. So when he shouldered Mikarils dead weight form, it was only his desperation that he was able to carry his Master. He staggered down the street on trembling legs. His pink eyes focused ahead and down the road as he forced himself to move as quickly as he could manage...which was not nearly as quickly as he would have liked.

Trudging onwards, Kyil was only grateful no one shouted or came after them. Perhaps his Masters decoy had been successful? kyil believed this was the case, as he turned down one street...then another... By the time he did manage to reach the first shop that proclaimed it sold potions, his legs felt as if he had spent years bedridden. Sweat soaked through both sets of his cloathing and made his loose hair stringy. "Just-just a moment more M-master." He wheezed as he entered the shop and knelt.

The shop owner, a rough faced female, was scowling at him as he stood. Kyil attempted to put on his most appealing smile and crossed to speak with her.

"Lady herbalist. My friend has unfortunatly been stung by something"

"I can see that from here." She interjected. Kyil was hardly offended though. The sooner they were done with negotiations the better! Unfortunatly, with the female knowing how badly he needed the anti-toxin...Kyil found himself relieved of both the gemstones. A price he felt was far too high for just a single bottle...however...he was not going to barter or risk going to another shop with Mikaril so ill. Once the gems and poition changed hands, he was quick to his Masters side.

Kyil knelt and pried Mikaril's lips open. "Master...Master drink this. It will make you well." He whispered to the other as he began to dribble small amounts of the liquid into his mouth. It was not easy to get Mikaril to swallow the cure, and he often had to pause and insert a finger into his mouth to push his tongue against his bottom jaw to get more of the liquid in.

The question that he worried greatly about...was if it was in time. Kyil did not believe his master would magically revive immediatly. So...once it was the vial was empty..he picked his master up...and made the long trek back through the city...to the waters edge...and to the hidden cave....

"You will be well s-soon Master." He grunted under the weight. "I w-will see to it."
