...Okay, I do have to ask what you think decorum means, because you seem to be using it synonymously with "civil," when it actually has several meanings. In one sense, it means to speak well, or in verse, or appropriately to the situation in a similar sense. More a sense of style than anything else, and certainly not meaning civil. The other meaning is in a manner befitting the situation. In which case, I would have to disagree, I am acting with plenty of decorum; I am responding in kind to the situation, as is befitting both my character and the tone of the conversation.

Although, then again, "Decorum-decorum" is nonsense, unless you're using it in the insulting, "Decorum, decorum!" sort of way, as a teacher might. In which case, well, you can have your decorum because I want nothing to do with it.

"my character"

And?

"tone"

Well I didn't think the conversation was going down the tubes.

Is your attitude in line with Guild Rules is the better question.

Bottom line, using impolite words doesn't make something less civil than you expressing disdain and basically calling people stupid in words that aren't filtered out. I'm not quite sure why you didn't see this conversation going down the tubes. Unless you are....dare I say it...thick?

If you're going to be a jerk, don't expect everyone to be nice to you.

If you're going to question the civility, question your own as well. That's the only possible thing I can think of. Unless you mean respect too, in which case you should DEFINITELY question your own.

Kate,

I perhaps may step out of line by saying this, though, that is not the intention.

I would prefer if you didn't "bat" for I.Am, unless of course, he's asking you to. Or, in the other event, you feel so compelled to, it's killing you inside. Apart from that, I'm not very happy being "ganged up" upon in here on these rather serious terms. I'm just being honest on a very emotional level.

Since we are all authority figures here, we don't need mediation. (And rightly so, the only 'official' mediation we can receive is from Beware, our superordinate). On THAT note:

I sincerely do not believe i have conducted myself poorly against I.Am. Let me repeat that: sincerely.

Was I jerk by saying that I was philosophically conflicted? No. Was I a jerk for sincerely offering that, hell yeah, I.Am's reasoning was wrong, but my emotions on the subject were equally as strong? No. And I made that clear. If I didn't make it clear, it's clear now.

I never once insinuated that I.Am is stupid. If I did, I'm sorry. Furthermore, and I want EVERYONE to see this:

Calling someone stupid, or referring to their stupidity is in my book, a lack of decorum, and poor behavior. Is this too "sensitive" of me? No, otherwise I wouldn't be saying it.

So when I.Am referred to my "stupidity" (and you to follow), I must admit, I feel a little attacked. It's one think to say, "You're reasoning right now is poor." It's another to say, "You're stupidity is overwhelming" in so many words.

I have no qualms about, to use your words, "expressing disdain" about what I.Am said. SAID, not HIM. If I was in anyway unkind to him, he should say so, and I'll say, "Sorry!" But that wasn't the intention, and it never was, and I thought it was going rather smoothly. So I'll have to ask that you rethink your implication that I'm being so rebellious and unruly here.

It's not just him, it's me too. You've been a jerk for awhile. I'm not batting for him, I don't need to, he's a big boy. If he was anyone else I'd say the same thing, or do you forget all the s**t that went down about 9 months ago? Actually, I don't think you were here, but yeah, no, it doesn't matter who he is.

You attacked his intelligence before any mudslinging of any sort started, and yes, you clearly did. Go back and read it. I'm not saying he was right either. But he's not the one calling foul here and saying "you're not acting with decorum!!!" You are. And you are the one who started out with personal attacks instead of just attacking arguments.

I agree with that last statement. Which is why I'm angry at you and why you're the pot calling the kettle black. And when you behave like that, and then get cheeky about something someone did when you did the EXACT same thing, and in fact STARTED it, don't expect me to be a good quiet little girl who knows my place. I wouldn't do that with anyone else, me liking you as much as I do won't make me shut up when it comes to you.

The burden of proof falls to you.

Quote:
And you are the one who started out with personal attacks

You mean with this?
"The hospital thing I'm eh about. I must admit, I think the argument that medical practitioners should be indiscriminate, in all respects, is a strong one. "

I don't quite see a personal attack there.

I don't quite see a personal attack anywhere.

I actually was quite a "pansy" in the beginning talking about his "marvelous points". (That's an actual quote, not a shock or sarcasm quote).

It's really annoying me that people who get in arguments with me always assume Kate is just defending me because we're in a relationship. Kate is a fair person, and she tells me when I'm truly in the wrong. It's happened before. She also doesn't "gang up" on people for me. If she's discussing something, it's because she's interested in discussing it, not because I'm discussing it; This happens a lot, but that's because we have similar opinions on most things.

And I am further insulted by the insinuation that I would "run to mommy," so to speak; Kate was, in fact, the first person to point out that you were being a jerk even if you didn't realize it.

The fact that you don't see it is exactly why I said you're being an a** and you don't even realize it. Sorry if I use "rough" terms, and am open about my opinion. I don't think you're an awful person and, generally, I don't even think you're a stupid person. I think you're an idealist, and that the ideals of idealists rarely translate well into the real world. Also that idealists rarely want to listen to realists when they explain why an idealist's ideals don't work the way they think they do.

But anyways, I'm not getting into it as much as I could since ya'll are doing the side conversation thing; Which is fine.

If you want a technical question, your probably gonna get technical answers.
No, it;s not neccesarly the reason. My father is pro-life, and for the first time EVER, he actually rooted for somebody in the to become a member of the white house. And I am a pro-lifing pro-choicer-I DON"T LIKE BABIES DYING, but I think that MAYBE, there should be the choice...if you got raped, would you want the kid?-anyway, I rooted for Obama. Don't get anything confused in the elections-it easily could have hapened vice-versa. God knows-but Obama won, and I am happy.

Nah, it's impossible to be friends. We subsist on a steady diet of human souls. Have you ever been friends with someone who eats human souls? It's really difficult. I tried eating my friend's soul the other day, and things got ugly.

It's just easier not to have friends when you eat souls for a living O.o

I thought we ate babies?

@Konchomai: It's not about being friends or not being friends. You can debate with friends quite easily.

Abortion was a large part of the reason he won. A larger part was race.
