Veteran's day is something of a sombre occasion over here. It's not a public holiday, per se. But we have a 2 minute silence at around 11am to commemorate those who fought and were lost in comflict.
It's kind of strange how a deep silence falls over the entirety of England when that happens... Nobody talks, people on foot stand still where they are.
Even in callcentres we turn the phones off for a bit so we can observe it.
I always make sure to hold the two minute silence where I can.
