One cool and beautiful afternoon, this boy was out hunting fish and frogs in a stream close to his house, accompanied by his elder brother. A friend of his father stopped by and called them to come eat; his brother left to go satiate his hunger. But the younger brother kept up his work; the weather was really too nice to waste the last hours of daylight inside.

It was a critical decision he made, for when darting after a wriggling black shape in the water, he misstepped and fell into the shallow water sideways, hitting his head on a rock. He was not knocked unconscious, but was pained and dizzy, and stumbled to the bank where he lay and rested. After a while, he felt better -- he was more stunned than injured by the fall.

But when he looked up, he was not by the stream at all anymore -- he was sitting at the bank of a different river entirely, and there was no farmhouse in the distance, but a row of houses in a style he did not recognize. He was beginning to feel afraid when he heard a kindly voice speaking to him in a language he did not recognize, but with clearly understandable thoughts: Was he all right, little one?

---

Atlas decided that the day was too nice to waste away indoors and decided to take a stroll in the park nearby. The cool breeze brushed his face gently as he walked around the park, observing the flowing river and the falling leaves. As he neared the embankment, he noticed a young boy sitting on the grassy knoll looking dazed and frightened. The boy didn't seem like a regular Gaian and it suddenly dawned upon Atlas that the boy looked strangely familiar to Setsushi, the Udon shop owner who he had recently helped clean his shop up.

Running towards the boy, Atlas asked him "Are you okay little one? Did you hurt yourself?", worriedly checking his arms and legs for any wounds. Finding none, he turned his attention to the boy's face, only to see the boy staring at him blankly. Could it be that he doesn't understand my words? thought Atlas as he tried to check if his face was hurt. The boy started to tear a little and Atlas started to get flustered, saying exasperatedly, "Oh no! Don't cry! You're safe now, don't worry about everything! I'll protect you!"

---

The boy started to tear, finding his alien surroundings more and more intimidating. Feeling the man's thoughts: I'll protect you and you'll be safe, the boy started to feel more relaxed. Hugging the man tightly, the boy projected a feeling of thankfulness to him.

---

Atlas felt the boy thanking him, but the boy had uttered not a single word. Understanding the situation more, Atlas cradled the boy in his arms, gently singing a song to calm him down. Oblivious to the situation, Remus hoped that whoever this boy's parents were, they would come soon to claim him and not leave him like this. The boy seemed to have calmed down considerably and was now looking at the sunlight piercing through the clouds. Atlas was relieved to see the boy smiling.

---

The boy noticed the sunlight piercing through the fluffy clouds in the sky and smiled. It reminded him of the sun at home and how he loved the sunlight. The sunlight danced cheerily on the water surface of the river and off the surfaces of the leaves in the trees. The foreign land did not seem so foreign any more. The boy projected a feeling of happiness at Atlas as he pointed towards the sunlight.

---

Tracing the finger to its destination, Atlas understood that the sunlight was making the boy happy as he somehow felt the boy's happy feelings. Contented that the boy was happy, smiled warmly back at him and asked him gently, concentrating on his thoughts as he said so "Would you like to be named Hikari? It means light!" and pointed at the sunlight.

---

The boy somehow managed to clearly understand that the man wanted to call him by a name of 'Hikari', which means the sunlight. At least that's what the boy thought when he saw the man gesture towards the sunlight. Deciding that since he couldn't communicate his name to the man, the boy nodded in agreement and smiled, knowing that he would be named after something he loved so much.

---

The approval from the boy was all it took to make Atlas lift him off the ground and hug him tightly. "Hikari it shall be!"

Atlas gave me this little notebook to write my feelings and events in. My first few days in Gaia were short, with me napping a lot. Atlas said that it was because I was shocked and unfamiliar with the surroundings.

Maybe I should start from the beginning. When I first came to Gaia, I was scared, I didn't know what had happened. Atlas found me and calmed me down, and decided to call me "Hikari", a name which I really love and now adopt.

We made a few trips to an udon shop owned by a Porcelain named Setsushi. Atlas said I was sleeping on one of the occasions and missed Setsushi altogether. I was awake on the second visit, but Atlas had to do something soon after we arrived so we left. Only on the third time did we managed to meet some other Porcelain and get to chat a little.

Atlas is a kind man and reminds me of Father, but I miss my family. I wonder how they are doing right now...
