I love art but hate art classes in college XD because my teacher always wants us to talk about our art out loud but it's so hard for me plus I turn really red so it doesn't help.

horbat - why get embarrassed? when a campbell's soup can became art all the rules got thrown out the window. you can produce anything and call it art nowadays. furthermore, because of the aforementioned truth, you can say anything about your art and no one can criticize it or call it wrong. high-minded, low-brow, or whatever other art criticisma may arise. it is all subjective, so you could have a lot of fun by producing pure bullshit explanations to people and then watch them comment on how deep it is xd

My Hollow No, when someone painted a black dot on a white canvus, and THAT is called art; that's when it went out the window. I saw one that was a canvas separated into squares and colored, in one of my school art classes. I can do that....... confused And that wasn't from one of the students, it was an actual printed out piece of art.

I saw one that was a canvas separated into squares and colored, in one of my school art classes. I can do that....... confused And that wasn't from one of the students, it was an actual printed out piece of art. in the metropolitan museum of art they have a giant, wall sized canvas painted one shade of brown. they also have a display of door-sized canvases that are painted each in a different solid color - red, then orange, then yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. i don't think these things are art. but hollow, the whole soup can throwing the rules out the window is a paraphrase of a quote from some famous artist/critic (i forget who). and really, the paintings you grave and i have described all came AFTER warhol's soup can, so the point is still valid - pop art threw the rules out the window and now whatever you say is art, is
