Darsais was not built to be a cleaning robot. She did not have an organized circuit in her body. On the family tree of robots, she and Roomba were at least twelfth cousins. But the lab was a disgusting mess. The little brat that the computer spontaneously created was finally pawned off on a guardian, but the dust in the lobby had not gone with him. The only way to get rid of dust was to clean.
So Darsais swallowed her pride and her dislike and found the janitorial supplies. Once things were in a bit more of a semblance of order she'd see about hiring someone to do this, but today window washing was her duty. She brushed a few strands of hair - bright green at the moment - behind her ear and ascended the ladder. At least it wasn't hot today.

Outside an ancient skeleton of a motorcycle rumbled up, more fumes than metal. The rider who stepped off it was also its mechanic, and far more interested in a bike that ran than one that looked pretty. She'd gotten the ailing monster for a steal and was busy restoring it, but whether casings would ever go on it was a bit of a debate. Dust intake would probably decide it.
The rider headed for the building's entrance, taking off her helmet and shaking out a long sapphire ponytail as she walked. Pulling open a door with the head gear under her arm, she zipped open her jacket to reveal an attractive blouse underneath. She had to wear her leathers for biking lest a crash scrape her down to the bones, but she still tried to look nice.
"Hello?" She called into the deserted hall.

Someone had just walked in. Darsais looked up from her window washing towards the door and watched the young woman make her way across the lobby. Wait wait wait! She dropped her squeegee back into the bucket and hopped off the ladder on an intercept course.
"Over here!" she called, jogging across the lobby.
When she got closer, she tried conversation again. First, "You look really familiar," and second, "Wow, I really like your hair!"

Blue turned on her heel when she heard the greeting, smiling at the young woman her age who trotted up. "My name is Blue? I'm from this program, originally, given into the care of Perri Indiya? We've been traveling for a bit."
Not one beat missed - she'd learned her mentor's lessons well. "Uh, thanks? It's "natural". Yours is... blinding." Still, in many cases she fell back on honesty.

"Blue?" asked Darsais, holding back a snigger. The name was self-explanatory. "Yeah, uh, I think I remember you. You were in the files! And we might've met once? It would've been a while ago, though. The lab's been empty a long time." She smiled. "I'm Darsais. I guess you could say I work here."
She pursed her lips thoughtfully and her hair changed colors, a shimmer running from the roots down to the tips. It went from green to blue, though not matching the royal shade of the other girl's. Darsais held a lock in front of her eyes and inspected it.
"Hmm, not quite," she said, studying Blue's hair again.

"Yeah, back in the day. Where'd everyone go?"
Blue raised an eyebrow, wondering idly if the other Kyber was a physical manifestation of Adobe Illustrator. Shoving a hand into one of her pants' pockets, she pulled out a utility knife, snapped it open, and cut a little hair off the back of her ponytail.
"Here."

"That's what we want to know," said Darsais, taking the hair. She examined it, held it up to her own hair, and squinted at them. Gradually, her own color changed to match.
"I think that's right," she said, shaking her head a bit. She flashed a grin at Blue. "How do I look?"

"Good luck with that." She replied, snapping her knife shut and stowing it back in its pocket.
"Um..." Blue frowned, not used to these sorts of questions. "...perky?"

Darsais turned around and inspected her appearance in the window. This color was good for her! She'd have to remember how to do it... It looked good on Blue's dark skin, but her complexion was a lot lighter. Except it worked, which was kind of weird. But not at all a bad thing.
"If you wanna go over to the desk, I should probably update your file," she said, turning back around.

"...sure?" Blue didn't mind, depending on what the file updating entailed. She'd grown suspicious of records in Perri's care, even if it wasn't the most logical reaction to the place that had made her. Some learned behaviors died hard.
"What do you need to know?"

Darsais skipped across the room and slid around the console. She hit a few keys on the computer, clicked a few times, and nodded as her eyes scanned the screen. Luckily, Doc's databases had been well maintained. "Your name's still Blue, your guardian's still Perri?" she asked, looking the girl up and down.
"Hmmm, you grew," she added, and hit a few keys. Something in the file was interesting - a line of text about a flight simulator. Darsais decided to ignore it. It probably wasn't important.
"Just out of my own curiosity," she said, "Where've you been?"
