Discuss all your preferences here, meet people similar to you. open up an argument about how something is good or bad I don't care. If you do start an argument please be a human being about it no "cuz they just sukk" provide a valid reason in your opinion why they suck or are good. "I don't like them because their music is a little too loose for my tastes" would be perfectly fine.
I'll open with my Preference of the Alternative and Rock genre.

While there is no genre that I intentionally neglect, I've been leaning a bit to the indie/alternative side lately. So I'm kind of mixing my all time favorites with recent ones.
-Led Zeppelin
-Rasputina
-Rilo Kiley
-Camera Obscura (the one from Glasgow, the metal band of the same name is terrible)
-Casper and the Cookies
-Rev. Horton Heat
-Mastadon (for when I'm feeling sinister ;3)

I could never characterize myself by a certain genre. I like too much.
As far as long-term liking goes, probably rock in many forms
Bands/Artists:
Green Day
Silverchair
Tokio Hotel
Disturbed
Nirvana
Panic At The Disco
David Bowie (yes, old man)
Miyavi (yes, JP music)
Then you add in the random techno, hip-hop, video game music (especially Ar Tonelico). I have a lot of all types, but only listen to rock artists as the "not just a random song I like" music.
