Here I sit, opposing you, drinking coffee
And not sure what exactly to say.
Every piece of advice will only drag
You farther, deeper into the darkness.
What am I to do?
Sit silently like a rag doll
To soak in the tears,
Or tell you the bitter truth
Only to be pushed away?
If I chose to sit and do nothing,
I am not really your friend.
The honest, brutal truth,
No matter how depressing
Is what you need to hear -
Yet it's the one thing
That could break us apart.
I'll take this chance, as your friend,
To make one last request:
Listen to me as I support you
The way a friend should,
And do the same for me.
