Do you think it's a good idea to lock older topics so they don't get "BUMPED" ahead of new ones??

Announcement

After each "greeting" has been onboard for a while, the topic will be locked. This will allow it to fade gracefully into obscurity, which will in turn insure the younger topics a place at the front of the line! (just like real life stressed )

If anyone would like to pick a bone with me about this idea of mine (I claim full responsibility), you can write to me by clicking this link >> malheureux@gaiaonline.com.

Could you maybe add another option to your poll in case someone disagrees with the concept, and maybe embellish on it a bit? I understand what locking threads are, but you didn't define if they were old threads, as in long-lived and possibly active, or old threads as in thoroughly inactive ones.

I figure if they're around and inactive for over a month, they might as well just be deleted...

no bones from my neck of the woods. I think it's a great idea. Here I was, checking out the posts, when all of a sudden there where bunches of them. So I was trying to post on each to wish them all Happy's when I realized that some of them were old. Locking the older posts to the bottom seems like a good idea to me. smile

Words of wisdom from the Mother of Moo-ness 3nodding

That exact thing is what I noticed happening... Happy "whatever" threads started in 2006 were getting new post in recent months... If someone wishes to send wishes they should send fresh wishes, not rehashed wishes from something old that smells like dead fishes..

To elaborate for those in the cheap seats... Greetings in this sub-forum are just that GREETINGS. Once the event has past, there's no need for any discussion that will keep the thread active. Ergo - if someone missed saying happy "whatever" after a month or so, what's the use? That's why God created PMs and appologies.

As the guild mascot and golden mule, this has my stamp of approval 3nodding

For those not in the know, Gilda is frequently Lil Brat's mindless alter-ego. eek wink

Seconded.
It really gets confusing if much older topics jump up. I did like browsing those through (especially when I was new to the guild) but those really should die gracefully than that every now and then someone tries to give first aid when its not needed.

I think they just fade away any how, maybe there needs to be someone who checks and sees when the last post was and if it was, even 2-3 months ago, it should be deleted. Maybe a good idea would be the one who started it should delete it.
