I found an image of Fawkes I did and wanted to show it to everyone. I think my version of him is better then the movie's. He looked stuffed in the CoS and I was disappointed. They never can seem to make two creatures to my standards. Phoenixes and Leos that represent the constellation. Artists seem to put in images or flames or women that are very well done to distract from the poor job they did of the animal and that disappoints me. So I made this head shot of Fawkes before I saw him in the movies. I think I might copy and paint this to give it more vibrant color.

I think thye did a fine job making Fawkes in the movies. You guys all seem to critisize these movies when you guys don't know how hard it actually is {and not to mention how much money just the effects for little Fawkes would be} to do that.
I like your drawing but if that is all neck there then the only thing I could suggest is draw the chest more into the neck. smile

I know it is hard to make puppets and do graphics, I am studying graphic as a living and I have been making puppets since I was a kid. That puppet is good, but it seemed stuffed. With rather mechanical movements to me. And you can't really see the it but the wings begin about an inch under the yellow plumage on the neck. His body and neck connect at the orange section. His neck is reposed like a swans, in the s shape. So the neck begins at the red orange section and his breast is the yellow and orange. When I am done painting him I'll post it so you can see.
The hippogriffs were amazing though and the thersals as well(sp?) . Compared to them Fawkes was a bit lacking. And he would pale in comparison to the dragons. I just expected a little more. He was a fine puppet, but he looked like a puppet.

Excellent drawing. I stink at art drawing. Fawkes in the movie never bothered me. Great job though. biggrin

Good! 8/10 I like the feathers at the top of the head, and the beak is good as well. However, the neck is too sinewy and the colours aren't vibrant enough. Don't let my advice for improvement discourage you; it's much better than any excuse for a drawing I could create.

Yes you are right about Fawkes in the movie, especially when Fawkes dripped his tears on Harry's arm. It looked obviously fake.
But I hope to see the finished product!!!
