Bai-Shén pushed a frond of hair behind her great pointed ear, huffing a few more strands out of her face. At some point during the night the front door had opened, and now the floor of the shop was littered with dead leaves. Damnable wind!

Cordelia pulled into the parking lot mostly to get out of the dirty wind but more specifically to answer her phone. It was playing an annoying somewhat disgusting song about big butts that her sister had downloaded and stuck on her phone, she had yet to remove it so she quickly opened her phone to stop it. As quickly as she had flipped open the phone she had shut it again. Cordelia was in no mood to talk to him and was a bit disappointed it wasn't a call from the hospital.
She wasn't planning on even going into the shop when she had stopped and was a bit surprised it was even open this late. All Cordelia wanted to do was go home after the extremely stressfull client meeting but there was something appealing about the art in the windows. She hadn't done anything spontaneous in forever and maybe she could find something for herself, a nice painting for her room or something.
Taking a deep breath she walked out of her car with one hand on her keys and the other holding down her leopard print scarf. The door was already open, probably the winds doing. Cordelia noted the leaves as her thin heel impaled them making odd crunching noises while she walked.

One of Bai-Shén's ears swiveled toward the woman and the girl looked up, eyes wide with surprise. Oh, silly her! She hadn't closed the door! She inhaled to tell the new customer that the shop was not open yet, but she was abruptly assaulted by a new whirlwind of leaves.
"Okay, okay!" she murmured and stood up, smiling, "Hi! Can I help you?" Her hair was a mess. Her clothes were covered in shards of leaves. Certainly not a pretty picture!

"Oh" was all Cordelia could say as she jumped back in surprise. She wasn't sure what was more odd, the way the woman looked, had she been lying outside in the leaves because she was covered in them, or the fact that as she spoke more wind entered the building. She quickly smoothed out her hair and clothes as she spoke, "Hello! Actually I'm just going to look around." She motioned with a sweep of her hand to the walls and turned adbruptly to the closest painting.
Cordelia preferred portraits over any other type of painting. She wasn't sure exactly why but she liked to see people captured on canvas, to see what they were doing in that moment of time.
"Actually," She swirled around tossing some leaves up, "I'm looking for a portrait!" It was a vague request but maybe the woman could show her some and hopefully one would pop out. For some reason she didn't want to leave empty handed.

"Right over here!" Bai-Shén chimed, leading the woman to one row of paintings that all contained people in many different styles.
"You're free to look around!"

"Oh great! I'll have a look at these then." She smiled politely then began studying the paintings. She really admired whoever could paint so many of them. Cordelia assumed it would be harder to make a reproduction then ones own original painting. How painstaking it must be to try and get everything the way the original artist intended. And these were very well done it seemed but then again Cordelia was no painting expert.
"Who painted all of these." She called behind her, she wasn't sure how far the woman had gone.

Bai-Shén hovered by the end of the row, not wanting to invade any personal space or make the customer uncomfortable. She'd learned that the hard way!
"Hm? Oh! I do," she said, smiling softly, "I have a studio right back there." She pointed to a back door and did not mention that this was, in fact, also her home.

She nodded her head, impressed, "Well you are very talented!" She glanced back to where the woman had pointed and grinned, "My shop has a studio in the back too along with a small office you know for the official things, meeting and whatnot." She rambled off when she stopped in front of a painting. Cordelia loved the subject of this one but if was so dark. So far every painting she had encountered was okay but not perfect! Not that Cordelia needed a perfect painting but nothing really stood out.
She continued studying each painting she encountered and comparing it mentally to the space she planned to place it in. Cordelia frowned as she continued further down the row. Just when she was seriously debating about going home one caught her eye. There was a lovely peachy pink color on the paingting that drew her attention. The brillian pink was accented by some greens from the background while the focus was on a woman who sat in a chair with a small cup of tea. Cordelia leaned in to get a closer look. It wasn't the most intriguing subject matter but she liked the brightness of it, it made her smile.
"How much is this one?" Corelia inclined her head to the painting as she addressed the woman.

Bai-Shén, however, felt that that painting was one of her very most emotional. The calm, comforted look of the woman, so serene as she nursed her cup of tea. What was in the rest of the room? What had the day brought her? Had she been a model, or a woman from the artist's mind?
...granted, Bai-Shén knew that she often looked too deeply into things.
"I'd say...50 gold? But I could go lower if you'd like!" This particular soul was one she wanted to go to a loving home, perhaps with a sweet little brother like that one...

"Really!" Cordelia blurted out surprised, "That's fine, more than fine." If she hadn't already thought on the quality and decided that it was top-notch she would have been skeptical. She studied the painting once more time and decided she would love to have the woman sitting in her home. "I'll defiantly take it!"

"Great!" the Kirin girl chirped, clapping her hands together. She gave off an odd aura of childhood.
"Do you wannit wrapped?" she asked after a moment of glee, plucking the painting from the wall and heading for the front desk. Even without wrapping, it would need a frame! She began to fit it before beginning to bounce on her heels, humming.

Cordelia couldn't help but feel she made the right choice, the woman's glee was contagious. She glanced out the window, "Yes please, I'd rather the wind not blow any nasty bits on it!"
Cordelia couldn't quite figure out why the purple-haired woman was so happy. She was even humming! Maybe she didn't make sales that often but Cordelia couldn't imagine why, you got excellent quality for a very cheap price. She decided the girl was just in a good mood and watched as she framed the piece.

Then came the wrapping in delicate white paper, and then it slid into a box.
"50 gold, please~!" Bai-Shén chimed, giving a happy little giggle.

"Right" She mummered as she searched her purse. Eventually she gave up and set it on the counter to better dig through it. She really needed to clean it out. For some reason her purse was immune to her constant cleanings, it just accumulated stuff. Finally she found her coin bag and pulled out fifty gold.
"Here you go!" She smiled and handed the money to the horned lady

Bai-Shén shifted the box in her hands to take the coins and then handed the painting over to its rightful owner.
"Be careful!" she chimed.
