Shimmer: Needing Help

Shimmer's heart was tangled. She needed help and didn't know who else to turn to. There were so many great stories about the kids in the New Mutants, Hellions, and Paragons teams that she just knew that they would be the ones right for the job. Her own team didn't seem right for it... these ones had been in situations before.

There really was no time for answers or explainations. Standing in front of Evie she simply said, "Evie, I really need the help of all three of these teams.... I don't have time to explain."

Evie started to ask, "Have you talked to Ms. Pryde?"

Shimmer cut her off before any more questions were asked, "No, they don't have time to help me... and I know you guys can do it... Please..."

Before Evie could say anything, Shimmer started to conjure pixie dust with her hands. It was a sparkling gold color that reflected in the sunlight. She closed her eyes and started to chant her magic:

Powers that bind the magical worlds, find me all friends who have the label in this world of New Mutant, Paragon, or Hellion... the ones who are slated for their union and to wear their colors... bind them all in your magic whether they are near or far.... bring them with me through the door to the magical realm to my home... to the lands of Honeycut.

With her incantation any member of the New Mutants, Paragons, and Hellions teams whether they were new or current, left their location in a blinding light of golden sparkling dust. In the instant of teleporting, they were all ported into a kingdom called Honeycut. The Paragons and New Mutants (and anybody else at the Academy) were mostly standing in a town square. Her powers brought the Hellions into a local pub just down the street. A few others were scattered to the woods. Her power wasn't perfect.

"I hope you don't mind... I made you all look like the locals," Shimmer said not wearing her student uniform anymore but wearing a leafy looking fairy get up that she wore commonly in this place that is her home.

She looked up at the sky which was an uncharacteristic grey, "I'm sorry for just bringing you here.. well, I'm not really. I really need your help, Evie. This is my home in the magic world... like where Avalon and Atlantis are... and my family is in a lot of danger and I just don't know who else can help. Nobody wants to help them... Please guys, I really need you to help us."

“I assure you that you are both the girls of this prophecy. You fit the requirements laid out many millenia ago to such a T. How often do people arrive here from another world? I assure you it is not a regular occurrence. How many of our people have landed in your realm randomly?”

“Once you are crowned… Im afraid you will need to stay here. Have you ever heard of a kingdom where its crowned authority was not present. Im really sorry, but I will do all that is in my power to keep you both happy, but you will both will stay here.”

Hellions! New Mutants. Five Minutes! We are heading out.” He stood up and walked out the door.

“Okay guys. Remember… This is a new world. This is not a danger room session. The dangers here are real. You can die. We have to be smart. Do not run off by yourself. We don’t know what lurks in the shadows. If I catch any Hellions breaking orders… I will be dealing with you when we get home. I trust Evie feels the same way with her team. We are going to be using Codenames from here on out. Why? I think their cool!”

At the ravine/bridge.....:

“We have a problem. There is a canyon up ahead here. The only way across is this bridge. Some local… wildlife has taken up inhabitance here. I have been smelling these things all day. I finally realized it was some kind of warning system… wanting me to allow the vision through. These things want us for dinner. They are dumb !@#$s too. But they are huge. And they have some nasty clubs too.”

“Since I have seen them… I think the Hellions should go through in an attempt to cross. When Enigma gives the signal… we can start our attack. Ya know. We will never get them other wise. Im afraid if we all try to sneak up on them we don’t stand a chance.”

Derrik sighed and then smiled as Thorne asked what the signal would be. “Oh you’ll know!”

“Hellions! Move out.”

He looked across the bridge. It looked like a small army of trolls was running across the bridge. “s**t! There are more of them.”

Avalon: The Closing Door

User ImageShimmer's brain wasn't processing what was going on around her. She recognized who was near her, but where was she? She had never stepped foot on Avalon before.... only saw it from across the sea. But when she looked out the window, it dawned on her that she was in Dierdre's castle.

"But my family... I-" She stammered looking a little dumbfounded as her child like eyes suddenly looked older than they were and less happy as they usually did.

One of the Paragons told her, "Your family is in good hands... those guys will take care of them."

She nodded and looked at Dierdre still a bit confused, "Why am I here? How can I serve Avalon? What's wrong?"

User Image "The prophecy I had was tainted in a way, Alana. Part of it was stolen and hidden away with my husband by somebody long ago. When I was given the rest of the prophecy, your friends here realized that you are the person that it speaks of. Our new queen will be of fairy born with hair of gold and orange... and eyes like yours."

As Deirdre spoke to the bewildered girl, the hawk like form of Brand crashed into the barrier outside the window. Small splinters could be seen in the shield protecting them. Deirdre quickly called out her directions.

"Brand's power grows stronger as the hour draws to a close. Get Alana onto that throne," She pointed to a large golden throne that was centered in the room. The light from the ceiling's stained glass window seemed to magically cascade down onto it. Still in shock, some of the Paragons helped Alana move to where she needed to move.

The light outside of the window seemed to fade as Dierdre started to move slower... the strain from Brand was putting pressure on her own power which was weakening as the night moved on. The shift in power was going to happen if she couldn't complete her life long task. She put her hand on a mirror and chanted a spell. The mirror rippled again and a crown floated out.

"Somebody, put this crown on her head... it's the crown for the rightful heir to Avalon's throne... if I move any further Brand will surely break the shield. My power is draining as his age is almost ready to dawn."

The two almost princesses rushed to her aid and took the crown out of her hand. Both girls quickly moved the crown to Shimmer on the throne. As the last rays of light seemed to reach the horizon. The crown lay flat on Shimmer's head as Brand crashed through Dierdre's shield.

Silence.

A gasp for air and pain. Brand collapsed onto the floor as a glistening golden light started to pour around the throne that Shimmer sat on. The white staff that Deirdre held started to beam with light. Dierdre slowly stood up with her regained power and said, "As the chief adviser to the throne, I banish you Brand to the hitherlands. Your power is done here."

As quickly as the bright light came, it went. Brand was no more.

"My family is saved, and our lands are saved..." Shimmer stood up recollected, "Thank you X-Men. There are no words for how brave you all are... It's time for me to send you all home... I'll make you all as you were... but be warned that time has moved differently. I hope to see you all again."

Around each of the three teams no matter where they stood a gold glittery light wrapped around them. It was the same light that brought them to this place. And in the mist and magic, they were transported back across realms. Shimmer sent them back home and returned them back to their normal form with pajama bottoms, uniforms, and whatever else they had on them when they left whether it was a jug of milk or a glass of mimosa. The only problem was that she left them all on the front lawn with six inches of snow on the ground.

"Damn it, I hate wet socks," Evie muttered.
