I normally wait until their gender is revealed, unless they're pink or purple because they're always girls (so far).
I name my dragons with a mixture of favorite characters names, random things that pop into my head that sound cool, and using a name site (such as behindthename.com) to look up names that have specific meanings. Like I named my purple dragon Eluria Zuleika. Eluria is from a short story by Stephen King (name of a town) and Zuleika was a name I found on behind the name with the meaning for beautiful.

I think Nayal for the Pink, Malour for the magi, Gotek for the guardian, and Shellea for the purple. Those names i got from rinworks, yet they seem like good names for 'em.

I know this is a dumb idea, but maybe you could name them like show dogs, like your Magi would be Grothia's Arhodei. As I said, dumb idea.
