Alright, ive been wondering for the longest time, on the royal crest, like the one on the front page, what do the wings and torsoe of the bird mean that is under the triforce?
Though i still doubt, id say Angelus is probably more accurate. there have been no mention ever of peoenixs in LoZ, though my origonal theory is it represents those bird people in the OoT sidestory manga
I've always interpreted it as a Phoenix, because of the Phoenix myths. It always rises from the ashes, born anew. There's bit a parallel between the Phoenix and Hyrule, because all the disasters it faces it manages to come back stronger.

Reminds me most of a hawk or an eagle, like those at the beginning of Twilight Princess...
