Ibtisam had had much fun this morning, following her siblings and playing around with them - though now the games were over she wasn't sure who had won or exactly how the game had worked. Maybe there had been no rules and no winner. Sam had enjoyed it though so it was with good spirits she found herself a nice place to relax and clean up. A rock not far into the Pridelands and not far from her families den, a sunny spot where she could stretch out and lick clean her fur. She wasn't obsessive about being neat and tidy but like many girls she liked to look nice. After all, her simple logical mind said, why would you ever want to look nasty? Nobody liked a smelly slob.
Caked on dried mud, bits of twig... Luckily today it was only her paws and lower legs that were a bit mucky, so she was soon just cleaning one last forepaw delicately. She 'purred', a rumbly growl of happiness, as the sunshine warmed her fur and it came clean. Sam rubbed the paw over her nose just to make sure her face was fine too, sadly missing the rather noticable smudge on one cheek, and then rested her face on both paws. It was a sunny warm afternoon. Simple and lovely.

Kimbizi had gotten more and more into the habit of going out for walks alone. Now that he and his seven siblings were all adults, he just HAD to get away from the den more. It was too insane. Of course, not all eight kids still lived with their parents. A few had wandered off into the world on their own. Not too far off, of course, but far enough that they now had their own dens. Zi had been looking around the local real estate lately, in fact. He figured it was about prime time he got his life into gear and got his own place. Trouble was, he didn't exactly want to move far off from his parents' den. He liked the idea of being near them, even if he didn't want to see them all of the time. In the back of his mind, he knew it'd still be a little while before he actually came up with a den of his own. Still, though, he went out for walks and looked.
Zi and walking was never quite normal. Because of his slight vanity problem, the male strutted. He never slouched. He never trudged. He always pranced along the Pridelands like he was really something hott. Of course, he was something hott, and boy did he know it. Something that looks this good should never slouch. And so, the parade went on.

It didn't take long for the younger female to spot Kimbizi walking by - well, strutting by. It was mainly the reason she paid attention to him at first. They were in the Pridelands after all and there were a few others milling about. But none were holding themselves like him, with a sort of confidence and pride. She tilted her head and sat up wondering what was so different. He was kind of nice looking too...handsome. She was old enough to have started to notice when a boy was good looking not that it meant much o her yet. Besides which, all the boys her age were either her friend or a pain in the tail. Or her brother which meant they were a combination of both of those things and her brother.
"Hello!" She said, when his parade brought him nearer rather than far.

Though the thought of admirers tickled Zi's fancy, he'd never been the social butterfly to go out and meet others. He walked around a lot, and didn't really mind bumping into anyone, but he was to type to nod his head and acknowledge another's existence... and then just move along to wherever he was going. In fact, most of the lions he talked to were in his own family, and the only lions he had a close relationship with were relatives. Really, the situation was a little bit sad. Then again, with seven siblings to entertain yourself with, it wasn't very difficult to just stick to family.
So, because he hardly ever talked to anyone outside of family, Zi wasn't really sure what to do with the little girl who had just called out to him. He stopped his strut and turned to look at her, cocking his head lightly to the side. "Hello..." He took a step closer, and then stopped again. Though he still had his confidence, he had become somewhat awkward. It was apparent he wasn't exactly skilled with first impressions.

She wasn't naive enough to expect every stranger to answer when you said hello but she was pleased when he did.
"I'm Ibtisam, though everyone calls me Sam. What's your name?" She asked with a smile - in her simple little world, you didn't have to have a reason for wanting to know who someone was. It was just enough that you wanted to and that was reason enough. This lion looked nice, might actually be nice and while she was sure she'd seen him around this area of the Pridelands, she had never actually really noticed him before. Seeing someone about reasonably regularly and not knowing who they were seemed a bit off to her.

"Kimbizi." He cocked his head to the side and squinted a little. Yes, he had definitely seen her around here before. He wasn't in the habit of meeting lions he saw, though, so it didn't surprise him at all that he had yet to talk to her. She seemed pleasant enough, though, and he wasn't about to be rude and walk away. Plus - having a little chat would give him time to show off his groomed to perfection fur. Even if she was a bit of a youngster, he couldn't help himself but to show off.
"It's nice to meet you, Sam." He nodded his head to her, making an effort to recover from his awkwardness. He took a few steps forward and then leaned back to sit at a comfortable talking distance. "Have I seen you around here before? You look a bit familiar." Many looked familiar to him, of course. He'd lived here his whole life and seen a great deal of lions come and go.

"Maybe! Though there's lots of lions about who look like me because I look like Shomoro. She's my grandmother and head of a big old family." It was said without bragging, obvious pride - while Sam adored her family she wasn't the kind to brag. And perhaps, being so simple minded, that was why she didn't recognise the slightly vain quality in Kimbizi as pride.
"I've seen you around but not close to... and I thought I should say hello. Seems better to know your neighbour's names." She smiled, explaining herself plainly enough.
