I just got Far Cry 2 today. A game seemingly over shadowed by LBP, but it's a pretty good game. I'm only a few hours in, but it's a lot of fun. It's a little wierd feeling because it's non linear and the world is huge. In the 1UP review of the game he said...it's like GTA in Africa. And it does kinda have a similar feel as far as mission structure. At any given time you can look at your map and find different places to pick up missions. Then it's hop in the nearest vehicle and head off. The missions so far are pretty much just kill everyone in the area or blow something up. But the gun fights are pretty fun so it's not a big deal. You don't heal automatically really in this game. I think to some degree sections of your life bar will recover on their own. But I've yet to see this for sure. When you're way down on health you have to get free and dig any bullets etc you may have in you out. Then heal yourself with a syringe. Syringes are limited, but you can find em all over. I've yet to be in a situation where I felt like I was done for. One mission I unwisely went in Rambo or "s0njas0n" style...as I like to call it. razz And it didn't turn out well, BUT...a "buddy" came and saved me. Buddies are friendly NPC's that wander the world. As you meat them and maybe help them out...you can befriend them and in turn they'll bail you out if they're in the area. I only have a couple at the moment. Also completing mission with buddies unlocks safe house upgrades. Safe houses are scattered all over the map and once you clear them of enemies...they're yours. The safe houses are pretty much just for saving. The main currency in the game is diamonds which are acquired through missions or in briefcase scattered around the map. So far I've only used them to buy weapons an weapon upgrades. Weapons are bought in weapon shops(duh)...and are unlocked by completing missions given by the shop keeper. Once a weapon is purchase there's a storage shed next to all of them you can go to replace any ammo and get newer guns. Older guns will jam on occasion...and this IS a pain. As I said you can upgrade the guns, but they're performance only. Not visual. No pimped out Army of Two platinum shotguns here. The weapon selection looks good, but I only have a handful unlocked. I've been using the same G3 I started with...though I did upgrade it. It seems to work fine for now so I'm not in a hurry to get anything better. Ok...well...I'm getting tired of typing, but all in all it's a good game so far. I'd say pick it definitely up if you like FPS's. IF...you don't mind the Malaria.

From what I hear there online isn't all that deep. Said there's DM, TDM, CTF and a kind of VIP. I dunno if there are ranks or anything. I haven't tried yet. Maybe Friday after work. And I haven't even touched the map editor, but it's supposed to be amazing...

Haha...and that's cuz you were like right up by me...and were like spinning around me. I couldn't get you. I suppose I could have just tagged you and got ya. But I didn't think of it at the time.

Ok...seeing as I haven't played online yet. I got this from wikipedia.

Multiplayer in Far Cry 2 attempts to include the dynamic elements of the single player game (such as fire propagation) and to provide as accessible gameplay as possible so that it is available to all skill levels and so that players have specific gameplay aspects to keep in mind when designing their own maps in the map editor.[14] It will also include a vast number of vehicles[15]

There can be up to twenty players per map, and the game will ship with fourteen developer-designed maps ranging from small to large.

Modes:
Four modes have been confirmed to be shipping with the game:
* Deathmatch
* Team Deathmatch
* Capture the Diamond - a slight variation of the standard Capture the Flag
* Uprising - Each team has a captain who must capture points across the map, with the assistance of his teammates. Once all points have been captured, the opposing captain must be assassinated to win the round.

Classes:
Multiplayer gameplay is class based. Each class can choose an appropriate primary weapon and a side arm, as well as carry explosives such as frag grenades or Molotov cocktails. Players are able to unlock more powerful weapons within each class by spending up to three "blood diamonds" on a class; diamonds are earned through experience points gained by killing other players and completing objectives. Potential upgrades for individual weapons within a class include operation manuals, maintenance manuals, and bandoliers.

There are six classes:
* Commando - "Mid-range assault class. Effective at fire-and-movement tactics."
* Sharpshooter - "Long-range specialist. Armed with highly accurate weapons."
* Guerrilla - "Short-range class. Specializes in close combat and ambush tactics."
* Rebel - "Specialist in explosives and fire. Strong on offense or defense."
* Gunner - "Heavy firepower specialist. Highly effective from static firing positions."
* Saboteur - "Equipped with silenced weapons. Specializes in stealth tactics."

I don't think they put much focus into the multiplayer. Luckily the Single player is great. From what I heard from the few people I know who've played the multiplayer is that is is pretty fun. But eh. I'll see you in resistance.
