Currently I'm growing two potted plants indoors, and they reside on the ledge of the kitchen window above the sink. One is a basil, given me by my cousin, who refuses to use any potting soil that contains chemicals. The other is an ivy given me by my aunt, the mother of the above cousin, who taught my cousin that habit.
Consequently, I can proudly say that my two little plants are growing and thriving without the aid of a single chemical. ... Except whatever may be in the tap water that I pour on them. neutral
Are you growing anything? Tell us all about your indoor herb garden!

I moved all my potted herbs into the greenhouse a few weeks ago, this includes only chamomile (which has yet to flower), thyme, and I forget what the other was. Oh! parsley. I'm going to have to move them into the house proper soon. It's getting too cold at nights and there's no insulation/heat in the greenhouse.
I've got a few empty pots that I'm going to see about planting something in. I'd have to look at my seeds first.

I have two big Wandering Jews hanging from my ceiling now (as well as lots of pieces stuck in random pots and bottles of water sweatdrop ), and a Dracaena and a small palm tree, a struggling lavendar plant, and a Holiday Cactus that's close to blooming whee Oh, and some random aloe vera plants of various sizes.
I was thinking about starting an indoor garden this Winter, but I don't know how fruitful that would be.. Do you guys know of any plants/herbs/vegetables that tolerate low light and could be esily grown in pots?

I moved the parsley, oregano, rosemary, and thyme into the living room next to the (east-facing, best I could do) windows. I'm not expecting any growth out of them, but maybe I can at least keep them alive until spring rolls around and they can live on the porch railing again xd Unfortunately I forgot to move the herbs in until after first frost, so no fresh peppermint or summer savory for me. Woe sad And I've had basil die on me when I try to keep it indoors before, so I just stripped it down completely and made pesto. I should go clean out those pots full of dead plants soon...
By the way, any recommendations on what to do with the potted strawberry plants over the winter? I don't really have any more room next to any windows.

The potted strawberries should be dormant, so you could cover them with straw and leave them outside. or bring them in somewhere and leave them. I don't now if you'd have to water them or anything if they were brought inside.

I have an Aloe Vera plant that needs to be repotted; it's getting so big (okay, more medium sized, but bigger than it was)!
I used to have a cloned Boston Fern. Until it became big enough to survive like a normal plant, it grew in a gel filled with all the nutrients it needed. Not exactly organic, but still cool.

I have parsley growing by my window. I planted it about 3 years ago, and all I've ever given it is water, and it just grows so rapidly and has never stopped.
I also have this cactus that grows like crazy. I have had it for about 4 years, when I got it it was one shoot about 1 inch long, now it is massive with about 50 different shoots that are about 5 inches long. All it's ever had is dirt, water, and sunlight. I love my cactus. heart

Starting with basil & will be adding to the indoor garden soon. Someone mentioned an upside down tomato plant pot for indoors. not sure about that one. More than likely will just do more herbs & such.
