so, i had a competition last saturday, which rocked.
here's the bad part, which i hate explaining, but anyway.
we were at our very last song in the show, and we had to do a jazz run, hold for 10, and go. we practiced this part, like, 20 times before we left. and of course, we messed up. some one in the brass section came in way too early which caused the whole band to follow.
but here comes the good part!
after 2 weeks, we finally got to watch some bands. we watched a group SIX band. there were over 100 kids in the whole marching band. there were FORTY colorguard! and they were all in unison and it was amazing!
oh god, here come awards.
so were waiting for results for our group (group 2). since our mess-up, we thought, "yeah, we'll probably get 4th place.". then the announcer said, "for 4th place with best percussion...SHAWNEE!" we were like WTF. shawnee's theme was the sea and they were so kick a**. so we're like, "OH MY GOD WE MIGHT GET 3RD PLACE!". then the announcer said, "and in third place taking best music...LENAPE!". then that's when we completely flipped out and possibly pooped ourselves. lenape is one of the best bands in our group. their show theme, and i'm not kidding, is BARRY MANILOW. our band rarely beats them and we finally did.
so we ended up getting second place, which was extremely awesome. but once again, clearview, another extremely amazing band, beat us. but we were actually half-a-point away from beating them. we completely lost it because we beat two of the best bands in our group, even with our big mess-up.
