Bracken took the gifts with his own will, having a hard time holding both of them up at once- the nut went immediately under one of his talons, making him shift a little on his perch to keep balance.
"Thank you," he said dismissively, preoccupied with looking at his new food. He'd eat it at home; only proper manners, of course.
But before he readied himself to leave, he looked from his prizes straight into Bushfire's eyes, his own lit with yellow malevolence. He smiled, but it was small.
"Of course," he said smoothly, turning his head to watch her, even as he turned to take off. "I'll make sure to keep you as informed as possible."

Bushfire watched him go, and wished, with all her will, and all her power, that she could take back her earlier thoughts that night; what she wouldn't give to have that idle, monotone tranquility back. But it was too late now, for the serene calm of the night had been harshly slashed in two with the revelation of what was going on; of what had been going on, for god knew how long.
It was then that the female closed her eyes and wished... She wished and wished till she was all wished out, and still, the fact remain that this was what she had longed for, and now that she had, she didn't want it. Such was the irony of life. -- END --
