That has nothing to do with it...Hines Ward is a good player, but this week, it was his third straight game with a late cheap hit. And what happened? Bengals first round pick at linebacker Keith Rivers is out for the season with a broken jaw.

in my mind sportsmanship has a lot to do with it. actually it wasn't a cheap hit. it was a clean legal hit. and he's an amazing player too, as a received and a blocker. people just can't accept that so they call his hits dirty. but a lot of players are great, what i think sets him apart is his attitude towards the game also.

Hines Ward is a pretty good sport, but that hit actually was dirty. Legal, yet cheap. His offensive teammate was about to be pushed out of bounds by Keith Rivers. Yet Hines Ward initiated a devastating blow, which will leave a rookie out for the remainder of the season. Ward put his head down, aimed high, and went helmet to helmet. A simple standing block would have freed his teammate with the same exact space...

if the league deemed that it was helmet-to-helmet then he would have been flagged, fined, or even ejected. i don't understand how its a cheap hit, please explain? you yourself said that rivers was about to push the ball carrier out of bounds, so hines is just doing his job blocking....i don't understand how that is cheap.

thanks for the link but i've definately already got that bookmarked and watched many times. its clear to me that he hit him with his shoulder, which the NFL agrees with.

this is football and if you're gonna block i sure as hell want you to block with all the strength you have, every time. hines is just doing his job AMAZINGLY and you can't deny that. i didn't hear any steelers fans getting their panties in a bunch when the ravens took out rashard mendenhall, also a rookie, for the season. hits and injuries happen, deal with it or go play golf instead!

in related news, hines amazingness has sparked a "gem" from terrell suggs:

if he/the ravens don't get fined for this something is way wrong with the NFL. now THATS dirty.

Look at the slow-mo replay. Hines Ward chargers like a bull, puts his head down, and aims high. The NFL didn't fine or suspend him, because it was more like helmet-to-neck, and not to-helmet. I still don't know why you understand it wasn't cheap a simple body and hand block would have resulted in the same amount of yardage on that play.

Besides, Terrel Suggs probably doesnt even know what exactly a bounty is. He probably intended it as a joke. This has completely blew up, and it's reciculous.

Yeah, this is crap. It's just like the Packers' "bounty" on Adrian Peterson last season, when the Vikings came to Green Bay.
