okay, i am a trumpet player, but i am unfortunately afflicted with the orthodontial hell called braces. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help my playing ability (or at least not make it hurt so much!)

I would say use wax... but every trumpet player in our band with braces tried wax and they hated it, it kinda messes up your embouchure
In time you'll get used to it, and as long as you don't press your mouthpiece against your lips it shouldn't hurt too bad
I had braces from 5th grade to 8th grade and I had no problems playing after i get used to it For the first couple weeks you'll probably cut up your lips a bit... but then you'll get used to it and it would hurt anymore =D
