Carlee was silent for a moment. Her face was that of confusion and concentration, as well as a bit of fear. There was more, something she'd never told her sister.
"There is something else." Her voice was barely above a whisper, but Dean and Sam heard it. There eyes were focused on her, waiting to hear what she had to say.
"Working at the court you hear things and half the time you don't repeat it as it's marked confidential. Well, not too long after the accident I was filing a couple cases for one of the judges when I heard a couple of the deputy sherriffs talking. Roadside patrol had found a car in the nearby woods. One of them asked who the car belonged to. When they described it, I knew it instantly, I'd seen it enough. The car belonged to my sister's boyfriend. He's two years older than her, old enough to drive. He was on the road that night, I'm sure of it." She told them as she looked down at her hands.
"What's her boyfriend's name?" Sam questioned. She looked up at them with tears in her eyes.
"Eli Connely."
"Where can we find Eli, Carlee?" Sam asked.
"He should be with Cassie tonight. During the day though, when he's not in school, he's working at the local garage."

Sam and Dean quickly drove off - back towards the hotel, hoping, praying that Cassie might still be there.
"She's not there anymore, Dean. She probably left as soon as we did."
Dean flored it, "I think Eli slammed his car into her parents that night and Cassie messed up the blessing with the site. Instead, they are zombies now and this guy that just died last week could possibly come back a year from now. We need to settle this tonight and for that, we need Cassie."
Sam looked out the car window and saw that they were smack dack in the middle of town, they zoomed past the garage where Carlee said Eli worked. It was dark and looked closed but just in case, Sam spoke up, "Maybe Cassie met her boyfriend here?"
Dean nodded and pulled into the alleyway beside the garage.

Once inside, thanks to Dean's extensive pickpocketing skills, they began to search for the mysterious boyfriend, named Eli. When they reached the office they began rumaging through the file cabinets to see the work file on Eli, but once Sam couldn't find it, and neither could Dean, they sat down on the desk and pondered.
"Maybe he gets paid under the table?," Sam reaosned but Dean disagreed.
"Small town, maybe, but all of this stuff is starting to run together - the 'accident' of Carlee and Cassie's parents, the mysterious boyfriend and then the events of the one year anniversary. I know it all ties together, we just gotta figure out how. I really don't want to come back in another year to deal with another zombie."
Sam shrugged his shoulders, trying to concentrate, to come up with a plan, "What if we stake out the highway that they died on? If Carlee and Cassie's parents are still running around after twenty four hours after the anniversary - well then maybe whoever is controlling them, is still waiting at that stretch of road for them to come back."
Dean nodded, "Alright, let's hurry."
Locking the door behind them, and rushing back towards the Impala, they failed to hear the split splat of blood dripping onto the cement floor of the garage from the car, which was still hoistered in the air.
Inside the car, behind the driver's seat, Eli Connely sat deader than a door nail.

Dean and Sam made it to Highway 59 where they parked on the curb and waited. Dean flipped stations for awhile before Sam finally told him to pick a station and stay there before he plugged his Ipod in. Within seconds Dean found a station. Sam pulled a book out and read it using the light of the flashlight. They took turns watching the road. For awhile everything was quiet, 'too quiet' according to Dean.
Every once and awhile Sam would check his phone for any missed calls or messages even though his phone was turned up. He just wanted to make sure he didn't miss anything. Finally Dean's phone rang. When he answered he didn't hear anything right away. Then...
"Help." the voice was strangled. Another heartbeat and he heard someone screaming in terror before the line went dead.

"What the hell-?!," Dean yelled as he threw down the phone between them on the front seat. Looking back at Sam he glared at the thought of who - or what - was just on the phone, "Was that just one of the zombies?!"
Before he barely had a chance to finish the sentence, a loud crackling noise disrupted the music form the iPod and both brothers felt the need to cover their ears with their hands to drown out the intermitint noise that grew louder with every second.
Sam opened his eyes slightly, trying to reach for the iPod cord when two headlights shone into the rearview mirror almost blinding him. Preparing for the inevitable, Sam braced himself before reaching for Dean to do the same.
Within seconds, another car smashed into the back of theirs, lunging them forward onto the dashboard.

Sam groaned and brought a hand to his head as he came back to consciousness. With eyes still closed, he tried to remember what had happened. With a little reluctance he opened his eyes. He took in that he was in the car and then instantly noticed Dean with his head against the steering wheel.
"Dean. Dean, come on man, wake up."
"I'm up, Sam, go away." Dean opened up his eyes, but then quickly closed them again to ward off the crash induced headache.
"What happened?"
"We were hit."
"Yeah, got that part, Sam. I mean, what hit us?"
"I'm not sure, but we probably need to get out, see if there's anything out there...You alright to do that, Dean?"
"Dude, lighten up. I'm fine. It's just a headache." To prove his point. Dean moved out of the car.

Sam rolled his eyes and stepped out of the car, slowly fallowing dean around the car to the end where it had been hit. But as they both approached, they realised that nothing was there. Their car was smashed in, by way of the bumper, but there was no longer a car there.
Sam leaned a little against the trunk and folded his arms across his chest, "So what - a zombie car hit us?"
Dean shrugged his shoulders after the realization set in and moved beside his brother, "Dude we need to purify this place and now. Any ideas?"

"I think there's something in Dad's journal that might help us. I didn't really study it as much as other things since we've never really come across zombies, it's usualy ghosts." Dean nodded.
"Right. So, let's get the journal and take care of this thing." They went to the back of the car, at the trunk, where the journal was currently held. After taking it out and placing it on the top of the now closed trunk, Sam used a flashlight to light the pages as he flipped through them, hoping to find something. After several minutes he finally found it.
"Here, I got it. We need to read this together." He pointed to several latin phrases. Dean scrunched his nose up at the text.
"Why do I have to read it too?"
"Because it works better with the more people that read it and we want this thing gone, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Let's get this over with.

Thumbling his finger across the page as he read the Latin inscriptions outloud, Sam lokoed over at Dean, silently urging himto join them.
But as Dean took in a sharp breath, and repeated after Sam to catch up with his brother - a strong gust of wind hit them both and blew the journal out of their hands. They quickly looked up and found the same car from just moments before glaring down at them, with its high beams on.
"That car is going to hit us isn't it?," Dean yelled and Sam nodded. But as soon as they scrambled to get out of the way, the haunting engine roared to life and speed its tires in place, gearing up for a full attack. Screaching its tires to the point of where a cloud of smoke rose from behind them.
"Get Dad's journal now!," Sam yeled and pushed Dean down, hoping one of them would reach for it in time.
The car bolted from its spot a few hundred yards away and sped towards them at an eccelerating speed. Keeping their eyes glued to the car as it came ever closer, Sam felt for the journal on the harsh gravel ground beneath them until suddenly - a leathery bound book made him look down.
Gripping the journal in his hands, Sam knelt up on his knees and quickly stumbled over the several pages to find the inscription again. Pulling Dean close to him, they began reading again:
Per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.
Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine. Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut inimicos sanctæ Ecclesiæ humiliare digneris, te rogamus audi nos.
Et aspergatur locus aqua benedicta They repeated the last part for emphasis and watched as the car sputtered forward, stopping just a foot before them and taking in a deep breath, they both collapsed back against the Impala. Then the car disintergrated into dust, another harsh wind blowing it towards them until they were covered in it. Looking back at each other they rolled their eyes and laughed. Sam let the journal fall beside him, "I think we deserve a drink."

Dean pulled the Impala into the driveway of Carlee and Cassie's home. The lights were still on, letting them know that the girls or at least one of the girls was probably still up. Sam knocked on the door.
"Sam, Dean. Did you guys find something?" Carlee asked immediately after opening the door.
"Sort of. Um, is Cassie home?" Sam wanted to make sure the younger girl had gotten in safe and that she hadn't been harmed.
"Yeah, she's sleeping. Why?"
"Just checking, making sure she's alright." Carlee smile at this.
"Anyways..." Dean said with a bit of impatience.
"Right. We wanted to tell you, it's over."
"What do you mean over?"
"He means you'll no longer be attacked by fugly zombies." Dean said with a grin.
"So, Cassie and I, we're safe. It's really over."
"Yeah, don't have to worry anymore." Sam said before a pair of arms were thrown around his neck within seconds they were gone though.
"How can I ever repay you?" Before his brother could say anything crude Sam jabbed him lightly in the ribs.
"What?"
"You know what." Dean rolled his eyes.
"Just keep an eye on that sister of yours, she's a troublemaker in the making." Dean said with a laugh. She laughed too.
"I'll do that."
The boys left soon after, making their way to the local bar in town. They were defenitely feeling entitled to a well need and deserved drink.
"To zombies, may we never see one again." Sam said holding his beer up. Although Dean rolled his eyes at his brother's attempt at a toast, he held his own bottle up before drinking.
