}~{I'll come up with a post format later rolleyes }~{
For the jellyfish in crater lake, today was like any other. The sun was up, it was a little before noon, and life was good. The same could not be said of the dragon perched on the waters edge. Purple clawed hands dragged across the surface of the water, multiple sets of eyes watching the produced ripples.
Tattered wings pinned at her sides, the femme lay down, half on her side, watching her own reflection. Studying with raptor vision her own features. And forced to reflect upon once again, just how different she was. A long tail swished in agitation. How frustrating. She didn't choose to be like this. She simply was. Who was to say whether she was monster or not? Maybe they were all monsters, and she was the normal one?
Turning her head, Zephyiote curled up like a cat, tail wrapping around herself. She was alone, as always. Jellyfish didn't count as company. Getting some sunshine, before she returned to the temple, and to her studies; that no one cared to see. Alone...

The sun had warmed Kaname's smooth ivory scales and he had finally spread his wings to fly. After leaving his sister behind to go explore the world, he felt he couldn't stay in one place too long, there was so much to see. And each day, had something new.
As he took flight, he spotted the odd figure below. Unsure he landed on a nearby cliff edge to scan the new creature. He bared his teeth as he looked at it. It was a dragon, at least he thought it was. But it had dozens of eyes along its body, large tattered wings and feathers of an exotic bird amongst purple horns.
Kaname, didn't know if this beast was hostile or passive, so he sent a small warning flame to the skies to catch its attention. "You there!" He roared, inhaling air to make himself seem larger "What are you? And are you friend or foe?" He let out a larger jet of flame, spreading his wings as he still clung to the cliff.

Zephyiote looked up and...laughed. Her jaws parting as her lips turned in an upward grin. A few years ago, his comment might have bothered her; but...no one liked her. No one cared. So what did this fool matter? "Are you supposed to be scary?" she called out, still smiling. "Because if you are, you are not doing a very good job," Zephyiote teased, rolling her eyes. She draped her whole arm in the water now, watching the other dragon carefully, different sets of eyes blinking at random intervals, adding to the oddness of it all.
After a moment, she stopped smiling, still keeping a few eyes on him. "As to what I am...your guess is as good as mine. You can come closer if you would like, I do not bite, much," The last word was said in such a way so that he would know she was just being playful.
She wouldn't say it. But this little bit of excitement had made her day. Nothing ever happened to her, so even a bit of attention was a nice change, even if it wasn't terribly pleasant. She tilted her head to the side a little, stretching her hind legs one at a time. Who was this guy? And why was a common painter so far away from home, and so close to the temples? Not that it was any of her business, but Zephyiote was very curious by nature.

Kaname fidgeted a little before he finally got the confidence to swoop down beside her. He growled at the many eyes staring at him, sitting down with a stubborn, puzzled expression.
"Are you a mutant or something?" He looked away as he said it, knowing he was being rude, but he really did not know what to say to her. He was quite disappointed his fire and body size had no effect at all for intimidation, but then again, she probably had some weird alien-like power, she looked like something from another planet.

"My my, someone needs to work on their manners, I think. I should be offended." Zephyiote rolled her eyes, and shrugged. "I wish I knew what I was. Or even where I came from. Sadly, I know neither." She shook her head, the feathers in her mane bobbing in the light breeze.
She smirked, flashing him a toothy grin. "I guess I do look like some kind of spell gone wrong." She fluttered her wings a little, which were still tight against her sides. "Enough questioning me though, you are my guest, I deserve a question or two myself, I think. But do not worry, they are easy." she winked, with only her basic pair of eyes, trying not to put him off too much.
"What brings a fellow such as yourself up to Crater Lake, so far from home? I have not seen a winged painter in a long time, aside from myself of course. It is almost easy to forget there are others besides P'an Lun and Chii L'in; so secluded are we."

He smirked "I'm just exploring. Rogue male, Lone wolf, you name it" He curled up beside her seeming more comfortable. "I-i'm sorry about what I said. I shouldn't have spoken so sharp tongued." He purred softly.
His reflection was a mere white cream and he smiled looking into it. When he looked at hers, she didn't seem any different, She was like him only a P'an Lun. No difference they are still the same.
"You're kinda pretty in an unusual way" He grinned looking up to her 'basic' pair of eyes.

Zephyiote's expression molded itself to one of amusement. "My my, first you come by insulting me, rude in all aspects, and now I am worthy enough of a compliment?" Zephyiote rolled her eyes and snorted. How strange this fellow was.
"Tell me, painter, what is your name? Saying 'you' seems a bit crude, really." She flicked her dail, dipping the furred end into the water, feeling the way it weighted her down. And also feeling as a jellfish got tangled up in her tail. What a bother. She brought her tail to her face, removing the jellysfish and very carefully setting it back into the water. Jellyfish were nice. They tolerated her when no one else would.
"Well then you and I are the same in that sense. I tend to roam a bit myself." She nodded proudly.

He gazed up and smiled "I am Kaname. My sister is Inari, although we are not the same blood, we grew up side by side and see each other as siblings." He looked into the water and his eyes seemed to light up as he remembered his family.
"She means a lot to me, but she couldn't bear to leave her home especially since she's never been too comfortable with flying, she, she can fly but she's never really been passionate about it." He blushed and looked along his wings. They were unharmed and well kept, he was very young and obviously had never been in much trouble considering the lack of wounds along his body. The flames he blew earlier gave away his "just turned adult" age, they were bright and full of energy like all young reckless painters. As he would age the flames would darken and carry more red fire instead of the hotter gold.

"And what exactly did you leave your family for? For this?" she gestured out over the expansive land below the volcano, stretching as far as the eye could see. "I will never understand family, but...my general understanding seems that they are quite fond of each other. Was your urge to travel so strong you left? Or is there an ulterior motive?"
Zephyiote wasn't sure of how old she was. Since she couldn't remember anything before the night she came to the p'an-lun temple, it was impossible for her to gauge her age. As far as she was concerned, it didn't matter, because no one cared.
Zephyiote took very good care of her wings, preening herself at least two times a day, but they had been tattered for as long as she could remember. It wasn't that bad though, they were quite oversized, and flying was impossibly easy, especially including the fact that, being a p'an-lun, she didn't really need wings to fly.
She drug her hand through the water, stirring up a few jellyfish. Maybe she would go for a dip? That would be nice. She was a good swimmer, her wings didn't retain water like feathered ones would, and she could use them to change direction instantaneously underwater. Not to mention her lengthy tail made a supreme rudder...yes, swimming sounded good. Should she invite Kaname? She wasn't sure...

He looked deeper into the water. "I left because... I had to." He turned away "It's not something I find easy to discuss." She rose to his feet and then sat back down, repositioning himself into a more comfortable position.
The warm sun had begun to feel irritating, and he looked into the water as if pondering a bath. "Do.. do you swim?" He asked seeming unsure, and gazing at her many eyes.

Zephyiote stared at him curiously, but didn't put too much thought into his response. She didn't know him, he was under no obligation to disclose personal information.
She smirked at his question, twisting in place and slipping into the water with nary a ripple. Her head breached the surface a few moments later, and she shook her head out like a dog, to get some of the water out of her mane. "The question is, Kaname, can you?" She paddled around a little, wings pinned close to her side, to minimize drag in the water.
Clear pairs of eyelids clicked over her normal ones, reminiscent of a crocodile. "Just when you thought I couldn't get any stranger!" she teased.

"I'd imagine it's be rather useful" He smiled a compliment perhaps? He sat there teasing the edge of the pool like a puppy, unsure when to jump in. Finally he slid into the water gently. His large wings made it awkward, but at least he could remain above the water level. He paddled around like a large dog. Awkward, and out of place in the liquid habitat.
"Not very good at this.." he snorted, trying to hold his head up.

Zephyiote slipped under the water, pushing through hoards of jellyfish before poking her head up next to Kaname. She flashed him a toothy grin, goodnaturedly. "Do not worry about it. I cannot imagine you do a lot of swimming where you come from?" She swam slow circles around him, watching him the whole time.
"Just a question, but...why are you still here? Still talking to me? I mean...surely I am not pleasant to look at..." Her nose crinkled a little in distaste as she recalled some unpleasant memories. "I am just curious, is all...
