I was just thinking that in addition to the vegetables we grow here we also have a fairly extensive flower garden. so what plants do you all grow just cause they are pretty.

I wanted to add lots of flowers this year to attract beneficials and pollinators, but that never got off the ground. All I have is some irises and hostas and marigolds and sedum along the driveway.

Oh yeah I also have a massive wild rose bush. I'm waiting for the frost to come so I can harvest the rose hips on it. [:

I TRY my best to landscape with native, hardy, or low water plants. I had to pick three things because I love so many different kinds of plants. I have a very large yard, three boys, and three dogs so everything must be fairly hardy and cheep smile My one big exception has been roses.

Here are the plants that flower:
Crepe Myrtle
Yupon(sp?) Hollies
Salvias
Sages
Day and All kinds of Lilies that divide and spread
Esperanzas
Red Bud
Cigar Plants
Butterfly bushes
Lambs Ears
Roses (the only plants I have that takes work)
Asian Pear (ornamental)
Lots of annuals that have re-seeded

We have many other plants/trees that are either fruit producing or just pretty.

Those are the main deciding factors when we get non-edible plants too. Right now it's spring on the southern hemisphere, so we've got iris bulbs coming up. My beloved dietes grandiflora is also flowering currently, along with the Australian native violets. We've got some hardy little yellow gardenias down other side of the house, too. Oh, and the aloe vera is flowering. I'm not sure it counts since we got the aloe vera because it's useful, but I adore the flowers so much.

We have a bunch of Irises. I'm not sure how many I want though; they have really grown out of control in our yard. I like them, just not quite that many. We have a sadly neglected pair of rosebushes (just bought the house-not my fault) next to the gate that I'm going to get back into gear. I love daisies, want to plant them next to the walkway. Orange roses. Gotta have 'em. Lilies won't grow here, I think.

I like a type of flower called "fuschia" but it really really won't grow here.
