I've been to a few cons over the years. Mostly, I work them, Sci-fi, Anime and Slash.

I really need help getting a costume idea. My boyfriend (it's still weird saying that) has invited me to join him at vision con. He's dressing up as the pulk version of Sandman. I'm going as ____ .
I dunno, I don't have the money or the time for an elaborate costume. I also don't have the body to go as half of the cool women of anime and sci-fi. So here are my ideas:
-Daria, yeah she's not con material, but it would be original and fit my natural appearance. She's sort of the goddess of outcast girls, so it fits in with geekness.
-Aeris, I would if I could pull off the costume, but certain elements would be hard to find or expensive.
-Insert sassy brunette chick here?
Essentially I want to do someone who I am familiar with. I know there are chars I probably look like, but if I cosplay I want to know about that character, ya know? I'll post a recent picture of myself soon and see if anyone can think of a character I've forgotten.

@ chibi- Yeah, I have mad respect for anyone who's willing to work a con. I don't think I could be a gopher of any kind or even security... I guess I just don't have it in me ^.^;; So I salute you as I feel it takes a certain kind of person who actually wants to work a con 3nodding
@ Lady Green- O.O Oooo... Lolitas!! I heart the lolita girls whee I can never get my act together with the whole lolita thing, but I've made a dress or two for some friends before. Very lovely ^.^ Also, family??? That's probably the coolest thing I've heard, really. My whole family just thinks I'm weird for doing what I do, with maybe the exception of my mom. Very cool 3nodding
@ Antonia- Well, I could imagine seeing Daria going over pretty well at a con of any kind, really. You'd be pretty surprised. Problem is with those kinds of costumes, it might be a little hard for people to automatically recognize who you are. And I think doing Aeris wouldn't be too hard/expensive just so long as you go with the simpler Advent Children look... And just so long as you leave out the staff.. Or maybe you could do something original? Like, make up your own superhero or something? But it does definitely help save some money if you know how to sew a little... Or know someone who does sweatdrop But you should post a picture, anyway. I'm sure everyone would be more than happy to throw out some suggestions 3nodding But no matter what, the important thing is to pick something or someone that you'll have fun with ^.^

I would love to go to a convention! I've been wanting to go to one for awhile now, but I have no idea where the closest one would be. I kind of live out in the middle of nowhere and the biggest city or place that would have one is like 2 hours away. I don't really have the time to go to one whenever they are having them. Someday, I'll go to one but it probably won't be any time soon. And besides, none of my friends like things like that. I'm the only one who gets into all of that stuff. It wouldn't be as fun if I went all alone. I would like to cosplay too just for the heck of it, but I'm really bad at costumes and all that. xp

D: Awe, Ping... I'm sorry. It's true that going to a con alone isn't as fun. But the costuming part isn't so bad just so long as you actually give yourself the time to make/buy whatever you were looking for. I wish I could give some suggestions as far as finding a group to go with. But the only thing I can really think of is searching through the con forums and taking your chances there... However, it is a bit of gamble in a lot of ways to trust/travel with a group of strangers sweatdrop

I used to go to Otakon on a yearly basis back when I was really into anime. The last time I went was in 03 or 04, I believe. I'm not so much into anime these days anymore, but I'd go again just for the hell of it if I had the chance.

I'm just hoping that one day, I'll be able to drag one of my friends along and actually find one near here. Either that or I could just look at those forums... I never thought of that actually. I won't have time to go until summer anyway, but I could start looking for one now haha.

I've decided to go as an insane/emo cat girl- inspired by the web comic "Something Positive" from the story arc "Kawai of the Damned" I figured it would be simple, no need for a specific body type, and humorous.

I know I'm like a million years late on this, but awesome! I'd Love to see how your outfit came out. Did you have fun?? Every year I cheat myself out of a costume cause I'm always so busy making everyone else's costumes. I think this year, I'm gonna' go for one that I've been putting on the back burner for far too long. I think I'm gonna' try to do Sister Miyako from Kannazuki no Miko (reference here)

My friends and I are actually planing a trip to the Anime Boston in march. My problem, like so many others, is coming up with a costum and making it. I thought that we all were going as the Haruhi Suzumiya group, but one member changed their mind so were all going different directions. We all even went to the trouble of learning the Hare Hare Yukai dance. Short Version of danceLong version of Hare Hare Yukai Dance

That's far too bad that someone backed out. Especially after going through the trouble to learn the dance.
