what's with gaia having all these new items that you can only buy with gaia cash (which requires you to spend REAL cash in the first place)? i don't really have extra cash to spend on gaia items. i'd like to get new stuff for my avatar, but i don't have the gold to do it, and it kinda sucks.
a lot of other virtual game sites i visit have been offering special items that you can only get if you buy a specific card. i understand paying for merchandise (plushies, etc.), but paying real money to buy my avi a new hat is kinda... i dunno, strange?

I know, it's crazy. I still get stuff with cash, though. xd
Also, I'm sick of everyone saying, "Well, they need money to run the site". That's BS. Yes, Gaia Online needs money to run, but they want to make a PROFIT. They want extra money (for whatever reasons). They make plenty of money.

I agree that they make plenty of cash at Gaiaonline. I don't have much of a problem with them doing what they are doing because to most members on the site (being newer members) see this as normal; as has been said, many other sites are also offering virtual items for real money.
Kinda makes you wonder what's so wrong with selling gaia gold on e-bay now that it may have cost a person real money to buy it. If I bought a pair of shoes (mmm, shoes), then I could sell those on e-bay. Gaia gold is virtual, but since I paid for it, couldn't I sell it? xd
Anywho, I think it really hit me the hardest when gaia changed the name from donation letters to monthly collectibles. That drove home the fact that gaia is no longer a needy little site that runs on or even needs donations. neutral

i'm not gonna say i know exactly how it works. all i know is that they're kinda like gift cards. you go to a store that sells them (rite aid, 7-11, target...), pay your money to get them activated, and then you should be able to buy stuff on gaia with them. gaia cash is different from gaia gold, and you can buy special items with the cash.
i think the cash system is dumb...

i think the cash system is dumb... You can buy Gaia Cash on the site, too, through paypal, etc., just like you can buy Monthly collectibles. 3nodding I think the idea of gaia cash is okay, but I don't like that so many items require it; it seems like all the new, cool, and/or rare items can only be purchased using real money (i.e., Gaia Cash), and I think that takes away from the original idea of Gaia Online. sad

From a business aspect it makes sense.

I think the Gaia cash sucks because some items don't give you a choice between cash and gold. If there is a choice paying gold is way more expensive. Some items are way too high to pay real cash.

Meh. I ain't spending any money on some fake site that may or may bot live to be ten years old. I find it to be the biggest rip off since Beanie Babies. I refused to spend something that has real value on something that clearly doesn't. It's moronic thing like Gaia cash that shows why Americans as a whole are so ******** wasteful. Here it is we in economic down time and yet all we have people willing to spend money on some ******** computerized items! That don't make any damn sense to me.
Like I know it's all in good fun but still. You better off buying something that will help you out like some books since clearly some of the people on the main forums don't read worth a s**t no how.
(yes my country accent affects my typing.)
