To everyone who is a Twilight fan (obviously if you've joined this guild) here is word to you.
I am a frequent GD lurker and sometimes poster (General Discussion) and in the past few months, i've noticed a bunch of Twilight threads. But what are most about? Bashing the book.
Why is this? I've came up with something.
Since the year started, Twilight has gotten much more popular. I see multiple shelves full of the series in bookstores, and see a lot of people carrying around one of the books in school. It's good to see this, but i realize something awful has happened in the process. Seeing as most of the Twilight fans are all about "0MG EDWARD IS SO HAWT AND PERFECT AND HE SPARKLEZ IN THE SUUUNN!!!! <33333" These fangirls keep blabbering about it and go nuts over it, causing an annoyance in other people. This wasn't a problem not too long ago, before the Twilight movie was in production. I had read the book back in 2006, before this craze started. And I have to say, I am seriously annoyed by the recent fangirls that the series have picked up. I've even heard of fangirls spending precious money to take trips up to Washington to see the town of Forks, a poor little town that attracted unwanted attention. And also to find sparkley vampires of their own. They must be pretty stupid (no offence if you are one). And it's people like that who give Twilight a bad name, and how it ends up with a bunch of bash and trash loaded upon it. And I see something wrong with their logic:
"OMG EDWARD'S SEXY!"- How can you say that? Sure Bella goes over every single detail of him, but that doesn't give him a clearcut image of him. Then when Robert Pattison is picked to play as Edward in the movie, things got worse. He's not even that good looking!
"OH LET'S ALL GO TO FORKS, WASHINGTON!"- And disturb the peace of the townsfolk because you want to see a town that's the main setting in the book? It's not Disneyworld, people. I'm suprised you're not being pelted with vegetables.
Really people, it's a book. One of possibly millions that we will read in our lifetimes. It's enjoyable now but one day you may look back and say, "Wow. I was obsessed over a fictional character, how dumb is that?"
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the series. But it's those crazed, overobsessed fangirls who don't see the light is what's giving the book, and us more calm and quiet fans, a bad name.
That is all.

The reason why everyone loves this book is b/c it's GENERIC!Easy to understand. Now if SM used the terms Moroi and Strigoi people would go "WTF?!" I don't even think Twitards know what that means :/

I've been noticing a ton of people at my school with the book, so I can agree with you there. *nods*
I feel bad for the people living in Forks, though. I'd hate to live in a quiet town and then suddenly have it full of tourists because of a book about vampires...especially when people think said vampires exist. D:

Anyway, I guess it's easier to understand than calling vampires "Dhampirs" "Moroi" and "Strigoi"

LOLWTF Volturi took over. Really, I would like it if the Romanians had a bit of a bigger role.

I completely agree with you on the "EDWARDS ZO HOTT OMG" thing, but ranting against the more shallow fans of the Twilight series won't help. You're only fanning the flames (if any of the said fans read this), and insulting the general Twilight population (as you did a few times in your rant, even though you probably didn't notice) will only piss them off, not placate them. I appreciate your intent, but after the many various Twilight-related schisms and web-riots, it's quite clear that trying to reason with these people won't work. Just leave them be. Like you said, it's just a book (although a good one).

<-----Not a crazy fan girl...less crazy since Breaking Dawn. First read Twilight in 2005 before the crazies. I understand completely.
I just want to say....I would like to go to Fork's because I love the rainy enviorment. (Go London!) The senery in down by La Push is gorgeous when it not flood-like rain. Athough now its lost its appeal because, I wonder how many crazies will be there...like there always are in the freaking bookstore when even I pass the Twilight shelves! (If you already read/own/worship the books, why are you gawking at them!? They havn't changed!)

I know how annoying it is to be surrounded by the rabid, senseless fangirls... I kind of wish I had more poeple who are like 'it's a decent book, end of story'
