"Make, darling! Please be careful!" Ainluraine called as she watched her youngest daughter race ahead. She was surprised after so many children that she still had the spunk to keep up with them. Sighing slightly she picked up her pace a little so she could keep an eye on her daughter.

MakeMake giggled as she jumped over a small rock and saw a grasshopper take off. Not wanting to be bested she quickly followed it, hopping like it did and waiting to pounce until it had stopped. She frowned as she watched it disappear behind yet another group of rocks. Climbing quickly to the top of the small pile she launched off the top.

User ImageTorrent stuck close to his mother as they walked along the grassy trail. Despite the fact that they traveled this path almost everyday to get from his pride to the main lands, he still stuck to Sky like glue, refusing to leave her side.

Sky looked down to her youngest son with a smile. He was such a momma's boy that it almost made him seem unrelated to the rest of her cubs, who were wild and independent. Aside from its cuteness, his personality worried her sometimes. He hadn't made any friends since he was brought into this world and talked to no one besides family. Not to mention his constant need for attention was getting the best of her.

The heavenly patterned Solar tossed back her head, moving the star-sprinkled mane from her eyes before pressing a paw to her son's bottom. "Torrent, why don't you run ahead and see if the baby birds have hatched yet? I bet they did!"

A few weeks ago, while walking along the same route, she had discovered a small bird's nest built in between a circle of rocks. Surprisingly, after she had explained what it was, Torrent took interest to this new sight and had been talking about it non-stop. It was just about the only thing that stopped her from stumbling over her own cub. Sky chuckled to herself.

"OKAY!" With wide eyes, the storm patterned cub took off in the direction of the birds next. He couldn't wait to see if they had hatched!

Where did she go now? Ainluraine thought, the maternal instincts kicking in and the worry taking place. The only one of her family that had never given her any worry was Orion... Just as she was about to run forward she watched her daughter climbing some rocks. A smile took to her maw and she shook her head a little. "All that worrying... it will kill me someday." She said quietly and chuckled at herself.

Just as she launched off the top she noticed she was flying towards something that was a whole lot bigger than a little grasshopper. "Aaaie!" She screeched as she landed on the lion cub, her unintentional target. As she hit him she rolled off and started giggling. He wasn't supposed to be there but that sure was a great surprise!

As Make disappear off the rock and a battle cry filled the air, Aine rushed forward. "Make! Are you alright darling!?"

It was getting closer! He remembered that tree the last time he went to check on the nest! The little storm was so excited, he could hardly contain himself. It was rare that Torrent found much joy in anything, but it were the simple pleasures that pleased him the most.

It wasn't long before his joy turned to utter fear. One minute he was minding his own business, and in the next he was attacked! Attacked! What did he do to deserve such a horrid punishment? It was at that moment that something clicked in his head, unleashing a hidden monster from within his ever-quiet self.

"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOOOOOOOD!!" He shrieked as if someone had just murdered him. "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?" He was terrified.

Her heart dropped. What in God's name could have happened within a matter of seconds? The sounds of her son's blood-curdling cries could have made even the hearing-impaired cringe. Instinct took over.

"Torrent!? TORRENT!?" She could make out his small, gray figure up ahead, surrounded by something larger. Unsheathing her claws, she bolted up the path as fast as her legs could carry her. Within a second, maybe two, she was in front of the attackers, bearing her teeth in both anger and fear.

But what was this? A female and her cub? At the sight of the little one, she instantly let her guard down. What was going on?

In seconds the seemingly childish act had turned into one that was near bloodshed. Ainluraine's claws were out and her teeth bared as she saw the other female approach but she hadn't quite gotten to her daughter yet but when she did she was bewildered. "What is going on here?!" She called and she saw Make now wide-eyed, no longer laughing and the other cub screaming as if he had been impaled by a searing hot spear.

Make's laughter stopped when Torrent started wailing. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She said a couple times but it was drowned out by the sheer volume of his crying. She became wide-eyed when she saw his mother approach and she back up against the rock. "I said I was sorry!" She wailed again, now on the verge of crying.

"Make!" Aine said, with a growl undertone. Grabbing the cub by the nape of her neck she sat her on the rock, bringing her up higher. "What happened. You better have not hurt this poor child! You know you don't like it when your brother torments you!" She scolded. Looking to Sky she sighed heavily. "I am so sorry! I had no idea you two were coming up this path. I do hope he isn't hurt."

Sky's first thought about the entire situation went to her cub, who was acting as if he had just lost a limb. She quickly picked him up between her jaws, setting him down in the grass to give him a hard look over. No scrapes, no bruises, just typical Torrent.

"Please, do not apologize. My son, Torrent, tends to take certain situations to the extreme." She looked down at him with stern eyes before turning her attention back to the other female. "He's not over dramatic, just a little on the skiddish side."

Torrent cling to his mother's leg, burying his face into one of the clouds on her night patterned limb.

It was hard to talk with her heart pounding so fast. Torrent really gave her a scare. "I'm terribly sorry for frightening you and your little one there." The sky colored lioness pushed Torrent forward, gesturing him to apologize.

"NO!" He cried. "SHE attacked ME! Why should I say sorry!?" He was in awe at the way his mother was reacting. He was just minding his own business! Why should he have to talk to that girl when SHE hurt him? It just wasn't fair.

Sky was shocked at his behavior. This was the cub that obeyed everything she's ever asked him. He was always so good. "Torrent! You're making yourself look foolish."

Patiently waiting, Aine kept a hard look on her daughter who seemed to be the cause of this outburst. "Shyness can be a great quality sometimes." She said as she looked at her daughter again, who was one of her more independant children.

Make squirmed under her mother's look. She knew that the look she was recieving ment trouble later... or a really long lecture in which she know would result in an apology later on.

"Make, I think you should apologize to this young lion. You scared him half to death." The starred lioness said calmly. "You -did- pounce him." Aine could almost giggle at such a scene. Wasn't she this age once too? She gave the other mother a look that clearly showed her amusement.

It didn't take Sky long to recognize the look the lioness was displaying upon her face. In fact, Sky knew it all too well. She was quite the wild child back in the day; yet she continues to blame her mate for her children's similar attributes. As an idea popped into her brain, Sky smiled and crouched down to Torrent's level.

"What does Daddy say about how to act towards ladies? Big or small?" She lowered her tone of voice, the same smile still spread across her maw.

Torrent looked to his mother inquisitively, sitting up straight at the mention of Daddy. "Daddy says that all lions must be nice, polite, and well behaved to the lady lions. He also says that by following those three rules, you'll be sure to score one!" He matched his father's enthusiasm exactly. He might not fully understand what that meant, but if Daddy says it, it must be true.

Sky's heart fluttered like a flock of butterflies as she heard the words come out of her son's mouth. Her eyed widened and she quickly covered his mouth, gritting her teeth. "Yeeess." She couldn't help but exhale a slight laugh. "But what else does Daddy say about saying sorry."

Torrent though for a moment. "OH! He says that all lions always say sorry to the lady lions no matter what.." His voice trailed off as he processed the repeated words of his father. This means that he would have to say sorry! He still didn't understand. This was NOT fair.

"Right!" She nudged her son gently, lowering her tone one last time. "Now, how about you be the big boy, just like Daddy, and say you're sorry." Sky looked up to the other mother with a wink. No cub could resist ignoring a chance to be the "big boy or girl" in any situation.

Well, he certainly couldn't turn down the chance to be like Daddy. No way. With a deep breath, the lightning patterned cub finally spoke the words of truce. "I....I.....I'm sorry.." He looked away.

Ainluraine had to bit her tounge at 'Daddy's rules' to keep from laughing out loud. She eyed the other mother, maybe this was going to go somewhere. Maybe Make would have a friend besides her siblings and extended family... She watched Make for her reaction when Torrent finally got the apology out.

Make waited patiently but she didn't really understand what was going on. She didn't know the 'rules' of being a lion... because she was a girl. Maybe her brother's knew... She'd have to remember to ask them. When Torrent finally uttered the words, "I'm Sorry" She smiled. "Aww! It's ok! I didn't mean to scare you!" she snickered a little because it took a lot more than something poping out of nowhere to scare her.

Aine smiled appreciatively and nodded. "That was a very big thing for you to do son." She said softly towards Torrent, not knowing his name yet. Looking to the sky-like lioness, Aine bowed her head slightly. "My name is Ainluraine and this is my daughter MakeMake."

"Just Make though!" The dawn colored cub interupted. "Two Make's gets kinda confusing sometimes... and I only get called that when I'm in trouble..." She said quickly and shot a quick glance up to her mother.

Torrent was proud of himself. He couldn't wait to go back to the pride to tell his father that he was nice to a lady lion today, he would be so pleased!

The little lion sat there with his chest puffed out as best he could, nodding to the female, who he had learned was called 'Make,' as she spoke. Then her mother, who praised him. Even if this lady lion did scare him half to death, he made the decision that she wasn't all that evil. 'Sides, she said she didn't mean it.

Sky smiled to the mother, returning the bow. "And I'm Sky, this is my son, Torrent. It is quite the pleasure to meet you, Ainluraine and Make." She made sure that she called the little one by the name she suggested, not wanting to upset her. "Even if it was a bit of a rough greeting." The lioness let out a soft laugh.

Ainluraine chuckled ever so lightly under her breath at the child's posture. It was always a joy to make a cub feel like a lion. Eyeing her own daughter Aine thought quickly to herself and cast a sideways glance at Sky. "Maybe... you two would like to play together sometime? Perhaps a time when you don't pounce on one another?" There was a hopeful tone to her voice as she looked to the children again.

Make beemed when the other mommy lion said her name with only one Make. She looked about as pleased as Torrent. When her mother made the offer to play Make's eyes grew twice their size. "Yeah! I want to play with you!! I promise I won't scare you!" She said with a giggle as she chased her starred tail around in circles.
