Just like the title says and if you don't remember the exact title it's okay.
The first romance novel I read was a harlequin but I don't remember which one... mrgreen

I think the first Romance I ever read was Witness by Sandra Brown or Hidden Star by Nora Roberts. But I know that I checked them out at the library at the same time. I just can't remember which I read first.

The first one I recognized as a romance was Divine Evil, by Nora Roberts. I've (obviously) been hooked ever since.

Prince of Time because I thought it was a fantasy / adventure story (as Tiggermyk can tell you: I don't pay attention to the genre descriptions on the book binding ... and it was in the library in the 'new books' section anyway, so that part was (probably) covered up). Can't remember who the author is, but I recently bought it on-line, I still enjoy it and will remember it fondly. Actually, Roses from a Haunted Garden may have been my first one ... I can't remember if I read it before or after Prince (I was named after one of the characters in it *chuckles*

Oddly enough, I do remember, though it's been well over a decade since I read it. it was called Silver Mistress by Carla Simpson. It was the racy kind with the cover artwork of two people in a passionate embrace and more then a few sex scenes.
It was a historical romance novel set approximately during the gold rush era, partly in san franscisco, partly in Silver City Nevada. The heroine had a twin sister she didn't know about. The hero knew the twin sister and initial mistook the heroine for the sister. The heroine was also trying to get the silver mine stake her father had left her up and running, but the antagonist was trying to get it away from her.
It was actually pretty good. I found it in a box of my mom's old books. I'm surprised she let me read it, since I was only like 12 at the time.

I remember mine. It was 'Crimson Moon' by Rebecca York. I read it because my friend Katie told how great it was.
