Cake. I love to eat it. I love to bake it. I love to make
it look pretty. At best, I am a novice cake decorator. Most
of it is self taught. I've worked vaguely with fondanting but
I have a question. So far I've only been using boxed cake
mixes for my cakes, {like Betty Crocker}. This last time
I made a rectangle cake and tried taking it out of the pan. The
cake didnt stand very well and broke in half. Now my question;
Can anyone point me in the right direction to a cake reciepe for
a stable cake mix that I could use for decorating?

You can really do just about anything decoration-wise using box cake mixes. Trust me- my mom does wedding cakes using box mixes. Sometimes they just don't want to come out of the pan neutral I'm sure this is common sense, but always be sure to coat the pan (like with Baker's Joy spray or something similar) and even that isn't a sure thing for the cake to come out perfectly... it's aggravating, but it's partially just a matter of luck.

another word on getting the cake out of the pan without it breaking: let it cool 15 minutes in the pan, but no longer!
