something I'd been thinking about since I saw spiteful visions. A combo lock deck i built in MWS:

Deck title: Spitefully Yours

20 Snow Covered Swamp

3 Wall of Souls
3 Cemetery Gate
3 Drift of Dead

9 creatures

4 Night's Whisper
4 Tendrils of Corruption
4 Beseech the Queen
4 Circle of Affliction
3 Corrupt
3 Spiteful Visions
3 Underworld Dreams
3 Pestilence
3 Skeletal Scrying
2 Consume Spirit
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Diabolic Tutor

35 other

64 total

I probably won't build this, most of the new designs I do now a-days are simply to get my idea down on something tangible. I don't have the money, time or resources to make new decks and have actually taken apart about half of my 60 card decks due to their lack of play or otherwise.

I plan on taking even more of them apart and only making big decks (300 card format in my local area) unless a idea for a 60 card really strikes me. EDH lost its thrill to me months ago due to there only being a few really cool ideas for decks in that format.

My drop in interest is also probably tied to wizards making horrible, horrible choices in their direction with the game (probably due to their buyout by tyco or whatever kid toy company it was). It might also be due to playing with the same group up to two times a week for almost 3 years now, my experience is becoming stagnant, I know most of everyone's decks by the second land drop or first spell and could play each of their decks just as well as they I know them so well.

*sigh* oh well, I'm going to start posting more deck builds that I will never make for the hell of it, I've got a large well of them in my MWS library. Maybe it will strike a chord with one of you guys.

i must say, iteresting idea, but i'd recommend a few changes...

First thing is, out with the tendrils, in with Damnation, you dont seem to have a board clearing effect, and you'll be weak to white-weenie and other agro decks.

second is, look for these additional cards and let me know what you think:

1) Cabal Coffers
2) Bane of the Living

take a look at these, i think you might enjoy the synergy they have with your deck.

the only other card i thought may go really well with your plan is running the black legendary guy with gradeur (forget his name) he brings more swamps into play for you, and he puts pressure on them forcing them to think twice before swinging blindly at you to take you down.

best of luck, Throan.

well pestilence is a fairly good board clearing effect last time I checked...

I would like bane of the living in this deck more than damnation as I can kill small swarms and keep my walls alive.

The walls are also there to try to stop early agro as well as keep pestilence around.

Tendrils is really in there for the same reasons as corrupt and consume spirit, to gain me quite a bit of life, the creature removal is really just a plus.

I think i was playing around with putting subversion in the deck for the same reason.

The creature you are thinking of is Korlash, and that's not a bad idea. the problem is the style of the deck. It not made to win with creatures, it's meant to get it's lock on board and then just hurt the opponent through pestilence, underworld dreams and spiteful visions every turn while not losing life through use of the circle of affliction.

In fact, the circle of affliction is a nice ward against early small creatures now that i think about it.

I do think i will take out the skeletal Scryings though as they're nice some of the time, but if i have spiteful visions out, there are death wishes.

Maybe i will put in bane of the living instead of them, and cabal coffers are a nice combo there too
