It was an event 7 years in the making, but earlier today Detroit Lions owner William Clay Ford finally fired President Matt Millen after his less than stellar performance.
The Lions started off the year 0-3, They have loss 84 games since 2001, 10 more than any other franchise from 01-present, and is arguably the worst team in the NFL so far.
the Lions will promote Tom Lewand from Vice President to President. Clay Ford stated that Lewand shall be the president for the remainder of the season, and once it is over make a decision with his family and team officials as to what to do with the team to make them a winner in the future.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm suprised Millen lasted as long as he did, I would of fired him after he was stupid enough to release Steve Mariucci several years ago.

I wasn't surprised that Millen is gone, just surprised that it took so long. No success whatsoever, besides some Thanksgiving primetime games. The Detroit Lions have been awful during every season in recent memory, and it all started with bad general managing. Signing the wrong players and letting go valuable assets. Drafting and acquiring an overabundance of wide receivers, but giving up on the running game and having one of the worst offensive lines. No solidity at defense whatsoever. Letting go Martz and Mariucci. It has just been a downhill ride since day one for Millen.

It's all over the place. They may have receivers with potential and athleticism, but Kitna commits a lot of turnovers, their offensive line sucks, they have virtually no running game, the defense gives up big places,...the list goes on. I'm surprised their are Lions fans still loyal to the franchise after all they've been put through under Millen.

Yeah, he's briefly in that movie, as an assistant coach for the other team. Anyways, I don't know why he'd want to go to the Raiders in 2004, when they really sucked...

When I first heard the news, the first thing that came to mind was "FINALLY". Im not even a lions fan but when a GM makes as many screw ups as he has any NFL fan has to feel the same way as Lion fans.
