Shyntyl was preparing for the journey that lay ahead of her today. She didn't usually undertake matters such as this, the removal of a mere male.. it wasn't usually her cup of tea really.. she liked a real challenge, but this one... this insolent little troll had irritated her. Some words had been spoken about her family that she would rather were not repeated again... as they couldn't allow un-truths to spread around the underdark... so she was going to remove him herself. He was, admittedly, her current lover, but all good things come to an end. And she supposed this one had been good... With a tilt of her hand she examined the large pointy set of spiked blades that protruded from between her fingers. It wasn't the worlds most practical weapon, but if you had a good grip and learnt how to make sure your hand didn't slip it worked very well in close combat...

She was due to leave within the hour. The riding lizards were ready and restless in the yard and the bags were packed. All she needed was her companion now, and she was due to arrive any moment now. She'd been lucky to she felt to be offered a female companion. Men were less reliable in her opinion, occasionally open to fickle misguided acts of deception.. if a woman wanted to stab you in the back at least she'd be open about it! She lifted her head, the dark veil she kept across the lower part of her face shifted slightly in the odd breeze that sometimes drifted through the cavernous underdark.. any moment now her companion would arrive and they'd set off, one to lead, the other to protect... it was a good system, assassins were good at what they did, but one misplaced hit on their only ever lightly armoured selves and they were down and out.

The companion had been brought in s a favour long over due to her friend Ariadne G'eld. They owed each other a few debts as well and kept the friendship going out of use as much as genuine like for the other. But the favour had been a small one, and the service of one of their better female warriors for a time was a small price to pay to have it out of the way, and thus it was Shyntyl had had her wish for a female companion fulfilled, now all she had to do was keep her impatience in check.. they weren't late yet...

Shekhalla marched down the street. The address she had been given was in an unfamiliar part of Westdark and she was a little afraid she might be late.

It was a great honour to be given such a mission when she was as yet so young. To accompany an assassin on her mission was one of the more highly sought after jobs for a warrior. Assassins were very highly regarded in the underdark, although their work was always done in secret.

The assassins often took an accompanying warrior as the back up muscle. Assassins were in perfect condition and highly trained for killing but the stealth required for their job mean they could wear little in the way of pretective armour. Shekhalla's job would be to protect the assassin should unforeseen complications arrive.

Finally reaching the correct road she checked her instruction note, it gave her an address and nothing more. There was the house. She conscientiously shredded the note, she wasn't sure of the usual practice in such matters but it seemed best. Walking up to the front door, feeling an unaccustomed sense of apprehension, she gave a couple of sharp knocks then stepped back. She had no idea what to expect having never met an assassin before so she just stood fingering the handle of her scythe a little nervously.

((sorry it is so short))

((Avy say - Mae Mae is not allowed to be sorry!))

Shyntyl looked up as she heard the scurrying of some of the lower ranking members of the house to answer the door. Whoever was there would be shown in fairly swiftly and brought out to the courtyard to meet her... if there really was an inside and an out, she supposed there was... With a small smile she tucked the weapon she was holding into a lose clip at her waist. She didn't need to be holding it all the time to be deadly with it, she could draw it from there almost as quickly as she could simply raise it from her side.

She was impatient to be off really, the day still young, it was true, but the sooner she left the sooner the insolent male would pay for his words against her family... admittedly on some level she could see that he had a point, their practices were cruel, but he had known that before he got involved with them, and now, by fleeing from them, he had well and truly sealed his own fate. He could no longer be allowed to live, even if he wasn't a real threat to them, the matron didn't take well to things like this going un punished.

When the door behind her swung open to reveal the underling who was showing the warrior out to meet her she smiled under the veil. "Good day, and praise be to Lloth." She stated, her eyes resting on the female with the scythe that stood before her. "I trust your journey here was simple enough, I am Shyntyl from the house of Arab'ndar.. I presume you are here to aid me on a venture...? Yes...?"

The door was opened by a relatively smart looking drow but presumably a servant, this was after all a fairly high ranking house. She was led through the house to an outside courtyard area where the assassin stood. She made a shadowy figure, as assassins tend to, dressed in dark colours and with a veil covering parts of her face.

"Praise be to Lloth." she echoed respectfully "My name is Shekhalla Hor'und, indeed I am here to offer what assistance I may."

She had to fight with herself to keep from staring at the floor and fidgeting with the handle of her scyther but she could not quite bring herself to look directly into the assassins eyes. For after all to offend an assassin, especially one with ties with a number of powerful houses, could be fatal.

"My journey was uneventful"

She allowed herself a quick glance around the courtyard. A pair of riding lizards were saddled at one end. Great Lloth! She had not expected that. Riding the blasted things made her feel quite ill at times. Still she was a passable rider (in that she generally managed to stay on) so she would not admit her problem to the assassin, she would just have to grin and bear it.

"There have been Troll's in the tunnels." Shyntyl stated after nodding a second greeting to the younger looking woman who now faced her. "But I suppose they would be of little threat to a warrior of your calibre." she lifted a hand and fixed the fabric that lay across the top of her head, keeping her long white hair from her eyes. "I trust you are ready to leave at once Shekhalla...? Or are there any further preparations you need to make before hand? You have eaten and drunk this day?" The best laid plans could be found faulty if they were rushed into unprepared, and as much as she wanted to be off with all great speed she would force herself to wait. Impatience was one of the flaws to her character that she would like to banish had she the chance to do so.

"We will ride for three days towards Menzoboranzen." her words were authoritative but her voice was not unkind. The tone was soft, fairly quiet, she'd raise her voice for no one if she was honest, anger showed people they could get under your skin. She found it easier to care little for people you may one day find yourself removing. "We;ll pass through into the east dark after a couple of days further, past some tunnels which I know to be... tricky..." she wrinkled her nose slightly, "What are your skills? What would you say you find yourself most able to do? Can you fight while riding or do you fare better walking ahead as a scout through troublesome patches of tunnel?" she sighed slightly...

"In all honesty it is troublesome finding myself with a new companion, but my last fell with child and so cannot fight, I must know your skills to best ally myself with you for this time... your weapon is direct and brutal, I approve of that, you do not seek to conceal it which means you are willing to use it and confident enough to express that willingness... You seem a promising companion, but for now I will have many questions... I hope that shan't set you too ill at ease..."

Trolls? Great Lloth! Well whatever they came across she was determined to rise to the challenge.

"I am ready to leave now. I did indeed eat before I came."

She looked uneasily at the riding lizards once more. More than three days riding. That would certainly test her endurance.

"I am able to fight while riding but must say I am more comfortable fighting on foot. It would be better if I dismounted in areas you know to be dangerous but I can protect you should we be attacked unexpectedly. This scythe was my mothers and I have trained with it since I was old enough to know what it was. I would not wish to sound conceited but I would say I am quite skilled with it. I can also fight with other short range weapons, I can hold my own with spear or sword, although they would not be my choice, but am less proficient with distance weapons such as the longbow. I am confident I can meet your requirements."

Shekhalla was forced to admit to herself that she was nervous. Although warrior training in the underdark was intense no student had ever been asked to go up against a troll alone. There had been a group training session with a troll the school had somehow captured. However all that had really taught her was that trolls were too stupid to feel pain. It was not possible to see a troll off with a few blows, once you were in a fight with a troll it would never even think of running away. The only options were to kill it or be killed, best to avoid them where possible. It was just possible for a skilled warrior to kill a troll alone if she was cunning but if they encountered more than one it would be better to run for it. At least trolls were not especially fast.

"Excellent." The assassin stated with a sharp nod of her head, "We'll leave at once then if you have all you need here." she moved away from the warrior again, over the one of the riding lizards, he soft booted feet making almost no sound on the rocky floor as she moved. She was trained to be silent, to kill swiftly and to listen well. "We shan't be ambushed, I am confident that my skills will be enough to alert us of any dangers we might come up against, and that we are subtle enough to pass unseen by any that this foul man might have sent out to watch his back. You are slight, which is good, it means we'll be able to move more quickly as you won't weigh the lizard down as some warriors I've seen would do." Easily she manoeuvred herself onto the reptiles back and settled herself comfortably, her eyes flicking over to Shekalla once again.

"Whenever yo are ready..." She stated, gesturing at the second lizard with a saddle. "The third will carry our provisions to each camp, but if things become to tricky then we shall have to leave it behind and survive of the little we can fit in our own packs, but hardship comes with the job, I am sure you are prepared for that." She smiled very slightly. "If you do well with this task I will make sure you are amply rewarded and revered for you skills long before the time such honours would usually have come to you."
