Can you buy guns freely in Finland? Or do you need some sort of authorization from police or whatever?

You need to get a permit for to carry a weapon. I don't know where you can get one from though. The main reason to get a gun here is to hunt animals, and it was on the news that some places (where you can get the permit) don't even ask any questions about your background, don't check if you have a criminal record, don't check if you have mental problems or how long you've been practising shooting. And I'm not sure if they've already raised the age to 18 (when it used to be / still is 15). The law of owning a firearm is going to be radically changed now and the places who give you the permit will get strict instructions to rank out people who shouldn't get a weapon permit.

There are some places like that here in Amercia too. I agree with Kas there should be more strict background check of a customer that wants to buy guns.

every place in america is supposed to be doing background checks and such. you dont necessarily need a permit to buy (except in special places like NYC) but you do need to pass a background check. some places might fake them, but every place is supposed to do one.

You need an FID card to buy guns in MA, except not BB guns.

what's FID stand for, again?
