The park would have been pretty any other day. Stone paths were decorated with multicoloured flowers on either side, and huge, sprawling soccer fields filled with bright blades of grass. There were even wrought-iron and wood benches decorating the sides of the paths so that people might sit down and enjoy the day and the sunshine and the flowers.
Ajiiel was not enjoying the day. Nor was she enjoying the sunshine. It -could- be said she was enjoying the flowers, but not in the way for which they were intended, because as she stomped angrily across the grass (pointedly ignoring the signs that asked park-goers to stick to the cobble-stone paths whenever possible) she tromped across flowers as well.
She was definitely and decidedly not in a good mood. In fact, one might go so far as to say that she was in a particularly -bad- mood.
"Look like a lizard, huh?" she grumbled under her breath, "Funny eyes, huh? I'll show them!" With another swift stomp, the seeds of a dandelion fluttered off in all directions. For half a second, Ajiiel was tempted to snatch some out of the air, but realized that would certainly be something someone who wasn't in such a horrible mood would do, and banished the thought.
Finding her favourite spot over by a small pond and kicked off her shoes, shoving her feet into the water and sending several small fish swimming off as she continued muttering under her breath.

"Ajiiel?" A calm, content voice rose from behind her, the footsteps attached to the voice nearing as the name was spoken. The voice seemed to decidedly belong to a young male and was in a way...familiar? But from where?
Behind the girl, Bailey Bacardi Dartsmoore had decided to go out for a walk and thought he spotted his lovely little friend - possibly a bit older but he was almost certain it was her! Today he wore a neat pair of dark blue, tight jean and a black t-shirt. His hair was in it's usual ponytail and he seemed presently pretty damn cheerful. But then, he didn't have much to be upset about, whereas she did.

The girl continued muttering for a moment before realizing she recognized the voice that'd called her name and had -positive- associations with it. She pulled her feet out of the water, getting up and turning around to scrutinize her friend.
He was bigger, but then, so was she. He didn't have the shiny silver skin anymore, though. That was a bit sad. Now it was rather closer to her own skintone.
Still, he was Bailey and he'd always been nice to her and certainly -hadn't- ever called her a lizard-person with funny eyes, and so she wasn't completely ready to bite his head off. "Yeah?" she asked, a slight sulk still in her voice. Afterall, his growth could have changed him as much as hers had changed her, and maybe now he wouldn't like her anymore, or he'd think she was funny-looking. -He- looked normal, afterall, like any other kid on the street. She still had scales and tattoos and weird eyes.

His face lit up with a soft smile as he realized he had been correct in his assumption that it was his friend. "It is you! I'm so glad! It's great to see you again!" the ruby skinned snake intoned as he rushed over to greet his friend better.
He was taller than her, by this point, and a little wider. The chub of toddler was melting into the lean muscle of an older kid, but only gradually. At present, he was still a young huggable boy and quite glad to see his pretty little friend.
"I've missed you Ajii!" he told the girl as he finished giving her a quick hug - he had a feeling she'd tolerate it from him. "You got even prettier since I last saw you!"

Tolerate was probably the best word-- at least until he let that last bit slip. She was in a foul mood and not generally a hug-y person anyways, but the pretty comment was enough to make her feel a little better, and so she gave his arm a soft squeeze once the hug had ended and the words come out of his mouth, "Well, at least someone thinks so. The kids at school don't-- Jerard was telling everyone I was a lizard-person from Mars here to eat them all."
Not that he wasn't partly right, of course. She wasn't from Mars, but she was from outer space, had some lizard-like qualities, and had been very tempted as far as eating them all.
She sat back down and shoved her feet into the pond again-- Ajiiel was incredibly fond of the water, particularly as it helped regulate her body temperature, but also because it helped detoxify her body.
"School sucks."

"That's ******** mean of him. Where's he get off doing that?" the boy asked, plopping down beside his friend and sitting crosslegged so he could talk to her. "School sounds like a load of crap to me. Real children are a pain enough to deal with when they have to mind you. It'd probably be ******** horrible to have to spend time with those who aren't required to listen to you."
Bailey was usually a soft spoken and amiable boy. A more agreeable and helpful boy seemed hard to find. But when someone was being a downright d**k - particularly to people he considered his friends - it pissed him off to no end. And being raised a Dartsmoore this time around, he was starting to develop a temper and a habit of cursing.
"School sounds like a load of bullocks. I'm glad I don't have to go."

Ajiiel nodded vehemently, "It -is-! And then when I hit 'im for it, -I- got in trouble! I tried to tell 'em it was his fault, but they wouldn't listen to me. Told me I was too violent, and if I went around hitting kids like that they'd call Shiori and she'd have to come get me and everything."
Ajiiel had briefly considered hitting someone else just so this would happen, but had realized that if Shiori had had to come to the school to pick her up for being too violent, she'd have to put up with a lecture. And not just any lecture, but the lecture about how violence is not the solution and using it only in self-defense. And -then- she would take her out of the martial arts classes, and that would really suck.
This little body was difficult enough just to walk around in, and she wanted to learn how to master it, how to walk without tripping yes, but also how to throw a punch properly. She'd never do that if she couldn't take martial arts with Shiori and the monks anymore. Besides, then she'd -really- have nothing to do at the Temple.
She tucked a strand of dark hair behind on ear, "I wish I didn't have to go either, but Shiori says I have to."

"Mother thinks it's pointless for me. She generally schooled herself from her father's library. She thinks it's fine to let me wander about and educate myself, which I don't have a problem with. Much better just going to classes and having to deal with stupid brats misbehaving all damn day. I'd rather go and learn something for myself anyway."
As he spoke, he considered something. "You might just skip school when she sends you. Shouldn't be too hard, I think. Find somewhere to hang out or something to do for the day that'd serve you more purpose than being in classes and do that instead. Then you go home when it's time and Shiori won't know till they realize it's becoming a pattern and call her. And even then, getting told off for cutting classes probably isn't as bad as getting told off for fighting. I don't think they expel you for cutting."

Ajiiel shook her head vehemently, "Shiori's smart. She'd figure it out real fast-- she makes sure to sit me down to do my homework every day, so if I come home without any she'll definitely get suspicious, call my teachers, that sort of thing."
The girl sighed, shrugging her shoulders a bit and splashing the water with her feet, "I dun wanna talk about this anymore. What do you do all day?"

"I just kind of wander around. Go to museums, planetariums, libraries, stuff like that. I get to go to some fun places too - pumpkin patches, amusement parks, all sorts of places. The only things I can't do are stuff that kids my 'age' are too young for like bars." he explained, doing air quotes and rolling his eyes on the word 'age'.
