Sally's Entry To Her Families Home
She gazed up at the young boy holding her. This was not the human she was used to seeing and neither was the other older human standing beside the young boy. Both were new and strange, she had never seen another human besides her mothers master. She knew not of the cruelties of other humans as her mothers master was always kind and friendly and always happy to play with her.
The young boys gaze turned upon her and he smiled. She knew smiles they were always associated with pettings. Her tail began to wag slowly and the boy laughed while turning his gaze to the other human with him. "Mother can I name her Sally?"
The other human smiled at him. "She's your birthday present, honey. You can call her whatever you like."
Her ears perked at what the two humans had said. She still did not understand all human words but the happy tones both were using made her very happy. A soft bark escaped her lips and she wagged her tail. 'Hayley.' The voice of her mother caught her attention and she looked over to where her mother stood in the entrance of the closet where her other siblings were still residing. 'You be good now and don't cause too much trouble for your new family.'
Her ears fell back against her head at her mothers words. 'I'll see you again won't I mother?' She asked but her mother didn't answer, she just smiled at her and replied, 'I love you Hayley.' and without another word went back into the closet with the rest of her pups.
"Ok Hon. Time to go. Thank you again sir." The older human said as she began to shoo the boy towards the door.
"Yes thank you!" Cried the boy as he was shooed out the door. Now she became alarmed as the reality of her situation hit her. She struggled a bit and whinned back towards her mother as loud as she could. 'I love you too mother!' And the door was shut behind the older human as they descended down the steps out into the yard of the house.
She blinked against the rays of the setting sun as they hit her straight in the face and blinded her from seeing any of the outside world. All she could see was shadows as they moved closer to a particularly large one and got into it. She was placed softly into the middle of what resembled one of the couches in her mothers masters home but the surroundings were completely different. She didn't have much time to look at any of it though as she was placed into the floor in front of the odd couch.
It was very cramped especially once the young boy got in and placed his feet on either side of her. She didn't like it and tried to climb up into the boys lap so she could see the rest of the surroundings of this cramped room. However she was pushed back down into the floor by the older adult. "Don't let her up in the seat hon. I don't want her accidentally leaving a present for us." The boy tried to argue but it was no use. Finally he looked back at her and patted her on the head. "Sorry Sally. Mom says no."
She whinned a bit but it did no good as soon she was being tossed around the floor by some unseen force. She didn't understand how she could be loosing her balance on solid ground. She continued to whine and tried several more times to climb into the couch like seat to no avail. Finally the moving feeling stopped and the boy began to climb out.
Once the boy was out he turned about and reached back in, picked her up and placed her on the ground. She'd never seen dirt before but now there it was under her paws. She sniffed it a bit and sneezed as dust went up her nose. Just one wiff of the dirt made her head spin, there were so many smells on that dirt she couldn't believe it.
Her curiousity was now itching to know what those smells were but before she could even move she was picked up again. This time by a big human not the one that had come with the boy but another one. He held her up face to face with him and gazed at her. Her eyes widened and she gazed back at him feeling a bit unnerved at being stared at.
"She's a cutey Brandon but she's not that mean. I can fix that for you." Said the big human with a laugh.
"No Carl!" Cried the boy, reaching up to grab her and yank her from his grasp. "You aren't turning her mean like you did Rosco! I want to keep her longer than a year without having her bite someone and end up being put down."
"Yeesh Brandon. Chill I was just kidding. Besides she doesn't look like she has one mean bone in her body. Do you cutey?" The big human said as he scratched her under her chin. She wagged her tail at the scratching and closed her eyes to fully enjoy the scratch. These humans were turning out not so bad she thought to herself while continuing to wag her tail.
"Alright boys! It's getting late best start getting ready for bed. You have to get up early in the morning." The female human said from the entrance to a small white house.
"Ok mom." Said the young boy before holding her up to look her in the face. "Come on Sally! You get to stay in my room with me!" With that he dashed up the steps with her in his arms and into the house.
The movement made her sick but she soon was placed down on the carpet in a room with odd looking objects all over the floor. She'd never seen objects like this before. They were all brightly colored and small like her. They actually reminded her of her mothers old toys that her and her siblings played with. Was that what they were? Play things? Moving near one she pawed at it and jumped in surprised as it cried out jibberish of some kind at her.
The young boy laughed behind her and reached forward and picked up the toy. "It's ok Sally. It won't hurt you. It's supposed to do that." The boy said and he pressed the button to make it talk again then placed it down in front od her again. She sniffed it a bit being very cautious of it at first but deciding it was ok she pawed it again causing it to speak again. Before it could stop talking this time though she grabbed it in her mouth and started chewing on it, pulling out it's crazy troll like hair and attempting to remove it's face. "Heh heh. You have fun with that while I get ready for bed."
She didn't even notice as the boy left for she was too entranced with pulling out the talking toys hair. With each strand she pulled out she shook her head and spat out the wad of crazy colored hair onto the floor until she had it all pulled out and all over the floor around her. Done pulling out the hair on this one she moved onto the next object on the floor. This was plastic, smaller, and shaped much differently but she still picked it up in her mouth and attempted to pull it apart. She nawed on it as best she could until a shout made her stop.
"NO! Bad Sally! You can't eat my cars! They'll hurt you!" The young boy cried out and quickly ran over to her, picked her up and placed her on the bed. "It's bed time now." The boy said as he pulled back the covers on the bed and placed her under them before turning out the light and crawling in himself.
These sleeping conditions were much different than what she was used to but there was one thing that was the same that gave her comfort that kept her from missing her mother at all, the warmth of a large body and a steady heart beat. She was sound asleep before the sad thoughts of her mother could even come.
