He parted his beak as if he was going to speak, but all that escaped him was a halfhearted sigh. He really didn't want to...

And he could already feel eyes on him , even though he knew well enough that the Minders were busy trying to keep up with the few fledglings that were awake enough to cause them some trouble. He knew that he stuck out like a sore talon. He had no pigment at all to his feathers, no marks to help him blend into the forest.

Plus he was moving again.

"I'm goin'..." He finally managed to hoot as he pushed off the limb and flapped tiredly towards the platform. He managed to land, but it was heavy and much more noticeable than he wanted.

"Haw, haw. Lookit what's come back!" Came an obnoxious chitter from further down the platform. The Wildtype fledgling had relinquished the unknown object that the Minder had so much difficulty taking from him. The little creature did not waddle any closer, nor did any of the other sentinels.

"Better get back in your nest." The Minder hooted chidingly as he nudged the fledgling back towards the hovels that made up the Enclave.

As soon as the fledgling dropped so did Breeze’s heart drop with him. It didn’t feel right to let go of the pale form so easily. The judging eyes that followed Odd pierced the teacher’s chest like claws. He was being so obviously avoided… no one even cared if he noticed. How could she have gotten so attached to him in such a short period of time?! Was it because he was so weak and neglected? Was it because of his wasted potential? Of course she could find an excuse to take him under her wing. It was irresponsible to leave a sick fledgling so close to the other children… he was on his way to become a full-fledged burden… but there would still be rumors.

“Odd Winter, I will come to pick you up tomorrow. You better say goodbye to your friends and minders. You won’t see them for a long time. I’ll go talk to Typhoon and sort out the formalities.” The teacher didn’t wait for the fledgling’s reply and left before she had even finished speaking but her talon brushed the annoying wildtype’s head as she left. Breeze felt almost ashamed of herself, furious that she hadn’t been able to suppress her sudden urges and at the same time… relieved. It felt right, she thought to herself. And by Noctus, she’d make a combatant out of him!

Ally hopped on Odd's shoulder with barely contained excitement, nibbled his eartufts and slid down to meet his master without saying a word.

The pale form lowered his eyes and trudged further onto the platform, well aware that the eyes were on him and the whispers were about him, it was how every night in the Enclave had been. Why had they kept him, instead of tossing him out?

It was a mystery, even to several of the Minders. Odd just was.
He existed on the fringes of the Enclave and lived up to his name.

His ear tufts stood on end as he heard the formidable Ghost's voice once more, a sound that he did not count on hearing again. His beak parted and his voice caught in his throat yet again. Not that it mattered, because Breeze belted out her words and was off before he could of responded anyways. Someone was taking him home. Someone would teach him what he needed to know to better himself.

Maybe he wouldn't be a complete burden after all and that sheer thought lifted the spirits that were completely sodden with sorrow only a few moments ago.

He gave a soft peeping hoot after the disappearing Instructor, an attempt at a thanks to the form that was already leaving. He felt he could bust from happiness and the abhorred look on the Wildtype's face only made him feel that much better.
