tenigee (^hey buddy!!) I heard that the hats were something worn by herbalists or something.... But I think everyone else is right on. (Except maybe the hat focusing energy thing.... The Burning Times were mostly innocent women, not real witches (at least that's what I think), and I don't exactly think that Charmed is greatest resource source out there.... Sorry, that's just my opinion.) I did some reaserch and charmed is right about 10% of what they say.... the pointy hat does symbolize the cone of power. And the burning times DID include REAL witches.... your thinking of Salem Witchcraft Trials ... contrary to popular beliefe that was the END of the burning times.....

Okay...be nice my sweet children. I'll settle the issue about the broom riding. Back in the day of the witch burnings, every woman was looked at as a potential victim who could be accused of witchcraft. When they saw our ssters jumping in the fields, over or to the side of their brooms, they thought they were trying to get on their brooms and escape. What they were doing was following an old pagan belief that the higher you jump, the better your crops would fare. The mundane world always loves to draw their own conclusions rather than be educated with the boring truth.

Well in the Salem Witch trials (yes I know this has been mention in alot of posts) I just finaly read and studied it.
Warts: Durning the trials they would stripped the women or the few men down. And They believed that they would have a "abnormal" mark on there bodies. They believe the devil would transform into Brids, cats, and such know as familiers. They would suck or make marks on them. And moles or warts were the most common.
I will discuss the Pointed hats and Broom flying later.

I don't like charmed at all what they say like about the pentacle and such. I hate the show very much. But some of me friends watch it and the tell me the subjects discussed on the show.
Anyways, on the subject on the Salem witch trails.
Yes it was about the end of the Burning times. And also in the Salem Witch trails there was no excate proof that the excused was a witch. Also the puritans were so "obsessed" with witches that if they weren't stoped every women in the commity would be hanged! Yes in the salem witch trials they were hanged not burned like the ones in Great Britian. Also the only way the accused wouldn't be prosacuted would be to agree to your sins of witchcraft and to name other witches. And so it would end up being a circle of accussing people which could be your neighbors and you know they are not witches and then they would commite to there sins and blame others.
Now not everyone commited to there sins and gave names to other so called "witchs" in the commity. And they were handed. But one man he was crushed to death by stones to confess and he never did so they would add more stones. And he would even say when they tell him to commit to his sins, he would say "more weight"
So ya Salem witch trails were diffenetly NOT the only trails! And every single one who was killed was not a witch (unless there was at least one or two and they were not hanged)
And the so called torture that the "vitims" felt was infited by themselfs (they were so caught up in the whold witchcraft thing they would hurt them selfs or perten, And one women ammitted to it that she was the cause of many deaths, that she pertened to be hurt by the "witches") Also the other reason that many of the yound girls would squam and act weird, was because there stomach would have food poising in there stomach. It came from the wheat that still if not cared for properly will be contamidated. And will have food poisioning in it. It still happens today.
Well I'm done ranting.
If anyone has questions on what I sated, please ask. And if you did not understand something I was saying then please ask.
Thank you.
